Does the phrase "Close Up Manipulation Act" sound like an oxymoron?
Thanks to the joys of technology and the ever helpful internet I finally figured out how to send songs (via bluetooth) to my cell phone. After playing the short 90 second song (through speaker mode), I began pondering the possibility of performing an 'impromptu' manipulation act. Naturally the act wouldn't be impromptu. It would be performed with ordinary (or nearly-ordinary) every day objects one would traditionally carry with them. My first idea involved just a Bic lighter and a coin; produce, vanish, change, transpose, etc. Maybe at the end the coin would vanish and appear under the seemingly innocent phone. Anyone else ever play around with similar ideas or have some from reading this post? Derek Merdinyan |

Sounds interesting. When you tell people, "hey I'm a magician." They always want to see a trick. This would be a good way out that would really blow them away. Good idea. Just make sure you can do manip. with almost anything.

In a search for footage of Homer (at the time when there was question of his existence) I found some footage on YouTube that involved a kind of jumbo-coin-esqe finale with a cell phone:

I remember seeing that video a while back, loved it! I'm sure it would be easy to perform a short act using just a pen and a flipstick move (and maybe a coin...) The creative juices are flowin, maybe I'll make a video sometime. Derek Merdinyan |

Take the ideas and then start to think outside of the box. Get the juices flowing dereck and start creating some really great artsic magic. I would love to see what you come up with.
