I think DJ is quite the worrier in this case. Believe me, spec's go where you take them, especially if you take them a good journey with confidence. With B'wave you take them every step of the way, you even let them decide things .
I doubt seriously, as Larry also says, that anyone is thinking of 1 out of 4 anything. B'wave is about presentation really. Everything is already set up and all the spec has to do is think they have some choice in the matter and they buy it as amazing. The effect is quite amazing, a superior bit of thinking by Maven on this little diddy. If you do Bwave right (and if you don't, you really shouldn't be touching cards at all), it will stun anyone. You go down the same path with this and the mind works the same way with the way the choices are presented. It doesn't matter if you're short or tall, smart or not too smart, a genius or a dullard, you will get the point everytime when it is shown that something in "your" mind has been mentally picked up in someone else's mind. DJ, really man, you're just thinking way too much on this...sorta like being way over-anxious on a multiple choice test. Just let it ride man and enjoy the fact that people will most definitely enjoy this trick. It' an amazing effect. Now, I wish I could see Nu Wave as it sounds pretty interesting as well, and if it works the way some here have said, then it definitely is the next logical progression of B'Wave...I mean stairs are great and definitely get the job done, but escalators are most certainly an improvement n the idea of going up and down from level to level. Perhaps Nu Wave is along these lines. I'd like to try it. *And hey Larry, do you think too much equivoque can spoil the soup, perhaps tip the hand? B'wave has just enough, along with some twists and turns to throw you off, but not sure about Nu Wave...It seems like it might've actually succeeded in making a perfect effect like Bwave, even better. **Oh and one good thing about Bwave vs. Nu Wave is that Bwave is only about $10bucks....vs. $30bucks for the XXX book which has Nu Wave in it. -Mb

Sure, it would be nice not to use any gaffs and simply hand the cards to the spectators (not that anyone has ever asked me for to see the cards ... and why set a precedence). But if the trick relies on 100% equivoque I'm not sure that's an improvement. Regards, Larry

If you use equivoque twice then it's not an improvement.
With B'Wave (done correctly) you only use it ONCE. The gaff then allows you to repeat whatever proceedure you've just done (ie remove the card or leave the card in) as opposed to having to equivoque again. ... if that made sense. |

My personal opinion is that the gaffed version is much better, and I'm familiar with Alain's version.
