I was wondering if there is any published material for funny vent routines?

Visit ebay now, search for "ventril*" and you'll find many vent dialogues in booklet form.
I just checked a few hours ago. |

Mike, I get a lot of my funny lines from red skelton videos. They are great and no one has heard most of those jokes for many years. Start a joke file system, mine works great for me. If you need more info on my joke file call me you know the number.

Yes, there are lots of dialogues that seem "unfunny" on print, but can be killers on stage. We know that a great comedy vent act is a combination of many things--material, delivery, puppet manipulation, audience rapport, etc.
I guess the trick is to try them out before live audience--many times, before we dump them. And of course, these published dialgues should be personalized by each performer. |

I have some of those booklets. While I don't think they're ALL bad, many are sadly dated.
Axtell has some great books he's been selling with good routines. You may want to check out those. MagicBH has a great idea. don't' forget to check out Abbott and Costello or Lauel and Hardy. While the material may be somewhat dated, it can be altered or just plain personalized keeping the basic plot in mind. best, Chris |

I have quite a few vent routine books. I find them helpful to get me started thinking. E-mail me for a list.

Bill DeMar and Tom Ladshow's "Ventriloquial Script SourceBook" has been one of my favorite vent dialogue books! These two great vents will provide you with many scripts you can use to start building your own routines. One section even teaches you to do a full routine--from just a single joke!
And Bill DeMar's valuable vent tips in the book are good enough for the price of the book. |

On the Axtell site we have some really funny routines in our "AxTrax" section that you can read and use for free. If you end up wanting to use the CD with the sound effects and music, that's good for both of us, but if you just want funny routines - or ideas...read all of them.
