Matt - do you really want to go that route? It is really not a prop; and due to the silver content it will be dinged up in a hurry. I guess if you are performing privately for wealthy patrons, or people who really appreciate silver bullion, it might be appropriate. Personally, I would recommend buying a prop made for magicians instead - more durable, and less worries if it becomes lost or worse.... Good luck whichever way you go.

Many years ago, I purchased a cheap "dull colored" 3" jumbo Kennedy half at a local magic shop.
I took it to an plating shop and had it chromed. Since the coin was small (compared to the other pieces the shop plates), the plating was not very expensive. I use the same chromed coin today: it is still shiny, looks great, and lands with a thud. This is just another option. BTW: I just checked some silver plating prices, and one company charges $25.20 to silver plate a coaster, so I imagine silver plating a 3" coin shouldn't be too much more expensive. I may get another cheap metal coin and have it silver plated this time. Douglas M. |

You might be better to stick with the chrome, it does not tarnish as silver does. If you want to do your own plating Caswell sells kits for just about any metal. Not too expensive if you want a gold plated Okito box.

I was able to get a jumbo expanded shell that was for the 3 inch chrome coins from hocus-pocus mabee you can check there... the cool thing about the shell is its magnetic for easy ditching and it was also chromed out to match.
