It got me motivated to relook everything that I do and the way and reason I do it. He spoke about character development and gave advice on constructing routines. He also talked about mime and how important it is to feel and experience the magic yourself so it better translates to your audience. A+ |

Garrett Thomas did not teach me any new tricks, but he did show me how to make the tricks I already perform pack more of a punch. His lecture was so informative that I'm going to see him again tonight at the IBM in Philly.

I had the chance to go out afterwards with Garrett, WOW. It was even better than the lecture.

I agree--GREAT lecture. I don't need to see more tricks, I've got thousands and thousands sitting in the books and dvd's on my shelves. He got me to think more about the things I am already doing and how to make them so much better. If I didn't have to get up at 4am to go to work today, I would have loved to hang out with you guys and Garrett after the lecture, that's when some of the best stuff comes out! See y'all at the next one! -J.R.

I like watching magic. I think Garrett Thomas is a great performer. I think he repeated himself alot. The lecture went from 2:00 to almost 6:00pm(with a short break, Mingus puts out a great snack buffet). I saw him lecture before & was looking forward to watching him perform. I do not think he did one trick in the whole second half of the lecture. Do not get me wrong, it got me thinking. MY OPION he could have said the same information in half the time, & did more magic. By doing that he would have even exercied what he taught in the lecture.

Also wanted to mention that I picked up Live at the Jailhouse DVD set for only $40.00 NEW from Garrett.... not sure why it was so inexpensive!

Just another "me too" post. I went to the lecture, and was in the small group which went out to dinner afterwards.
I thought the entire experience was valuable, and didn't feel like anything was lacking. To be fair, I didn't get the flyer listing the effects Garrett was supposed to be teaching in advance (I signed up for the lecture on name recognition). If you read that flyer, you'll see he did almost none of the advertised effects. Still, I thought the lecture was great. Garrett was kind enough allow me to interview him at dinner. Here is the mp3, if anyone would like to hear it. It runs about 13 minutes. http://milocast.com/interviews/Garrett_T......2-11.mp3 Shawn |
