I noticed on hocus-pocus.com that Wayne Dobson has a new book out titled WD 40. Looks like it might be really good. Any thoughts?

It's top of my list of things to buy at the forthcoming Blackpool convention.

Wayne's got some good anecdotes and is a fine magical thinker.

I was on my way to start this thread. Well I love this guy in performance, even in Unclamped when he is not at his best. Just iffy on buying a book on something without really knowing whats in it.

I think I read on his website that it is a compilation of his Dobson's Choice booklets and 25 other non-released effects, plus the bio. I'm definitely picking it up even though I have two of his booklets already. If you don't have those, then this is a steal.

Is this going to be a hard-cover book or a soft-cover?

Thanks for any information.

Does the book have his knife through coat in it? If you own this book kindly give a short overview of the table of contents.

Thanks

I find it annoying that the publishers would seek to release the book as a PDF and for a reduced price so soon after releasing it as a hard copy (a month's difference I think).

The publishers of the book also publish Magicseen magazine. They caused a bit of a stink by publishing the magazine as a PDF too especially as it ended up costing less than subscribers paid for the magazine. Also, the PDF version could be downloaded before the subscribers received their copy. Not a great move on the publishers part. I think they changed the scheduling after an uproar from the subscriber base.

The WD40 PDF is now too cheap for the amount of good material it contains. A lifetime's work from one of the great modern magical thinkers.

Although it's cheap I also know Wayne Dobson's Mother won the lottery (£1m+) so he probably doesn't need the money! I suspect the publishers are squeezing every last dime from the venture.

Mike,

I totally agree with you. Beside, beign the bookworm that I am, I prefear a book over a PDF, no matter the differences in prices.
