For now my goal is to learn magic as a hobby. I hope to be good enough to do a little entertaining. Past that, who could say? I have rediscovered a lost passion, and I am trying to learn it. That's about all I can say at this point in the game.

My goal was always to have fun and amaze and entertain people.
since I started doing shows, I discovered that comedy bar magic is all I want! I can have a blast, my audience as well plus the drinks and the party hard atmoshere. so I guess I have achieved what I was going for hehe. -Matt

To simply amaze. If I can make just one person smile per day when they are feeling down, then it's mission accomplished.

I'll tell you my goal in magic and I suspect it'll take a life time to achieve because most of the people I know of that has achieved this spent their life time working toward it.
When ever I think of a magic entertainer (or similar type entertainers) that I admire more then anyone are those who are just respected the moment they are introduced. Some examples of those who I believe have achieved this are the likes of Fred Caps, Jay Marshall, Karrel Fox, Red Skelton just to name a few. These people spent their life's entertaining and earning respect through their craft. So that's my goal. To some day "earn" that. Notice I said earn and not be given. There's a huge difference. It's almost cliche, but I believe more in the "journey is more important than the destination." That's probably why, unlike some of my peers, I am not wealthy and don't own a house.
It's not that I think that goals aren't important, you have to do some planning for the future, otherwise you really don't have one, but you can learn and grow no matter what direction your life takes. I think it's riskier this way, but I wouldn't change this aspect of my life. I've found that after setting a goal and acheiving it I have received a great deal of satisfaction, but I realized that acheiving the goal really was nothing compared to what I learned along the way. So my magic goals are more diffuse than others. I want to explore what magic has to offer me and those around me, and to learn and grow through it's use. If I can be recognized as a performer, that's really great. I'm happy when I can contribute something to others like in this forum, no matter how small that contribution might be.

For me too the journey is more important than the destination. I don't actually have any plans, ambitions, hopes or dreams for the future at all. Not with magic and not with anything else. And I'm fine with that.
If I am to be realistic, I won't ever perform for anybody. Not with my nerves. But it would be nice to be able to entertain a few friends at a barbecue or something. Or family members and old childhood friends. Show them that I'm not completely useless after all. I would be the most happy if I ever came across a kid (or magically produced one myself) who is as interested in learning as I am. I never knew about magic until I was 38. If I could help someone excel to where I can never go, it would be wonderful.

Noobini,
I am sure that you will one day perform a small miracle. It takes some nerves to go out and do it. But once you have got past that point, you are free to go. Think in terms of baby steps. Just a small miracle for some kids you met in the shopping center might be one if it. Andy

I had always been a creative being, I like painting, music, theatre and I have a very wide imagination, so... I think my goal is that people see the world closer to the way I do, a great magical place, and make them to take themselves not too seriously even for some minutes.

My magic long-term aspirations are to be able to perform a show here and there, probably unpaid, but would be happy to be good enough to pick up some part-time work. More for variety in life than as a means to making ends meet. At the moment I have enough to keep workmates and friends entertained for short periods. I do some outdoor education teaching, so a pack of cards and some sleights is a very useful tool for facilitating group interaction. My son (8) is quite keen, so we spend time doing it together. He has the ability to follow a routine, but has trouble with the cards. I would be happy with magic if it continues to provide fun time with my son. |

I just want to have fun and hopefully put a smile on the faces of others at the same time. And if it adds a few coins in my pocket that's only a plus
I really just love the art and wish I had started this much earlier. |

My goal is to gain enough proficiency and repertoire to be able to gather a crowd and go nonstop for a reasonable length of time (15 minutes? 30 minutes?)
I don't have any aspirations for making money at it, I just want to be "that guy who does amazing things." I'd also love to have the confidence to just do magic on the fly for strangers. Post office, grocery store, whatever. |

I wish to remind people that not all is as it seems, that there are things unknown and indeed unknowable. That and I love seeing amazement on people's faces. It makes me smile, making others smile.

My current goal is to have fun learning magic and reach a level where I feel comfortable performing a few tricks for friends and family. Longer term goal is to become highly skilled at close-up magic.

My goal is to enyoy perfoming magic to others who are willing to see magic. If this leads on to getting paid or opens up more oppotunities then great, but I'll take it as it comes.
