Hey there,
Since I've done a little drumming in the years past, I rediscovered a booklet I had in my bookshelf. Since I did not know where to share it, I decided the Cups & Balls was where the wand was the most needed. The book is Drumstick Spinology by Steven Stockmal http://www.amazon.com/Drumstick-Spinolog......-1769747 It covers basic spins, finger spins, etc... Also, the book comes with a DVD to see the spins in action. Only bad side, at the end there is a "humor" section that I found (like many other people) didn't add anything to the book. Check out the link and read the reviews. And to give you an idea of the spins included, check out this video: http://www.drstix.com/here.wmv Just try to ignore the drumming and concentrate on the sticks. I'll have to get back to practice spinning, now that I've un-dug this. (My C&B wand is a taped and shortened drumstick, by the way.) EDIT: I just found out another topic mentioned the book... It was in 2004, so I guess my topic can still be of interest to some. |

I've played with a few tape methods, and I found that my favorite is simply a black electrical taped wand with silver duct tape tips. It looks very elegant from a distance, but it looks very "street" up close. It's a good weight wood, 13 inch, and I'm not afraid to really beat it up, drop it, throw it at hecklers, etc. Just my thoughts... ~Jonathan

Ah, I used Teflon white tape for the tip. But I like the silver-looking idea. I might give it a try, just to see.
Also, hockey tape could be used to get more grip. I guess it could have some "cachet" if I'd just tint the wood with floor varnish. A magic wand with "Vic Firth" written on it...cool. |

Mine says "Ludwig" if you look at the impression through the tape.

Louis.P.M,
This is a cool resource that a lot of magicians will be glad you brought to their attention. Some magic dealer ought to carry this. ~michael
