For those who have not seen it, here is a reference video of the effect (not done by Richard, but I couldn't find that video footage)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF-O0uWPA3Y I'm going to be a leader on a Christian retreat in the near future, and I just recently learned the Stickman effect. I realized that the whole Stickman schtick could easily be replaced by nearly anything, so I started to think of something that I could replace it with to fit in with theme. At the moment I've just been thinking of replacing it with a single word like God, Jesus, Faith, Love etc etc. The rough sketch of what I wanted to do is something like this, starting from the Erdnase change. {Erdnase Change to make word disappear}, "And sometimes, when you feel like everything is lost..." {Spead cards card reveal word is on signed card} "He/it will find you" That's how I'd like to finish, but I've kind of hit a stumbling block in terms of what I want to put before that. I don't want to sacrifice the impact of the routine, but I can't seem to think of any good patter for the first and second "jump". Any thoughts or suggestions (or even alternative handlings to suit a good line of patter) would be very appreciated! -Justin |

I just watched the video.
Although this patter suggestion is different from the one you suggested, what about something along the themes of the prodigal son parable? How he leaves home, with his inheritance, and tries many different things (to find peace, happiness, success, etc.) In the end, he returns home. - Donald

Hi;
I've been using this for a while. (Bare bones) Instead of writing their name, have them draw a fish on the face. You draw a man and do the routine. When you finish, mention that we should all be fishers of men and have them write their name under the picture of the man. Jim |
