Hey guys, remember my topic that I was too nervous?
With your advice all in mind(really all bits of advice that were given from different users)i did some magic for people. For a quite critic and sceptic classmate of me I did 2 tricks. The first 1 was recapped. I went well and although he saw my strike vanish I bare the advice in mind(Dont care) jaxxon gave me. I knew id crush him with the 2 loads to ear and HELL I DID:D the lesson I learned from this is: my body language is good, I need to rpactise my strike vanish and my pattern could be better but hey.. I did it. I crushed him:) The second was a spongeball routine. I crushed him with the ball to his hand. He was so flabbergasted he threw the 2 balls to the ground while saying WHAAT THE ****, GET OUT OF HERE. Although he noticed the 4 ball load(he said something like. I feel more then 2 balls) I didn't care. I floored him with the first load lesson to be learned: work on my 4 ball load Then a little girl came to my room so I showed her: The professors Nightmare, Changebag, Spongeballs Colourchanging Silks Thumb tip magic with silk at the end I made a balloon of her She didn't know me and know I'm her God. "michiel can do ANything!!!" She didn't even knew me and at the end she wa slaughing ate vverything I had to say. It was not only the magic but I'm working for 4 years with kids now so I can kinda handle them and know what to say For her parents I did some basic card stuff - Rub a dub dub - A classic force trick - Some flourishes - a short ambitious card although I'm a die hard vernon addict(BE NATURAL DAMMIT!) I did the flourishes to have something to dow ith the cards while my nervouseness was lowering. In a few weeks I don't need it anymore. The parents (even the well knowing dad which I always feared) where floored, compliments everywhere It was great. I know how to improve but instead of being nervice I now feel like: LETS GET OUT THERE AND KICK SOME ASS!! Well I know nervousity cant fully dissapear in a few days but I'm making a big jump forward. Again thanks for everything sincerely Michiel |

Good going! I appreciate the time and thought you put in before showing others. As you progress, remember how effective those basic effects were.

Yes I put in very much time and practise into the effects.
have you noticed that most of the things that go wrong with me is when it happens with a spec?(spongeballs in hand etc). a good feeling flooring people:) I wanted to do my favorite tricks(my fav routine has to be the cups and balls but ive the sleights down, now I'm practising my body language. I noticed its even more important then the sleights in them cups and balls) Eventually my nervousness will go away |

Good for you, It's always a bit nerve racking performing for the first time. Hopefully this will give you the confidence to perform again.

I, too, suffer from nerves when performing in front of lay people. Slowly, I am overcoming this by just getting out there and doing it. The few effects that I know I am practicing on a daily basis just to make sure I'm doing them right. Once I'm confident of my basic performance and story (patter), I find I don't have the same problems that I had before.
Everyone else is right. The only real cure is to repeat this mantra to myself: "Fear is the mind killer, the little death. I will face my fear, I will let it pass through me." In case no one recognizes the reference, it is from Frank Herbert's Dune series.

The next time you go out and do magic, you'll remember all the fine details you learned this time. And you'll learn some more fine details!
And definitely, its a great feeling to see those expressions on their faces!!!
