Hey, just remind me what size the sponge balls should be for ordinary routines?
I had a go with 1 inch ones, but they're way to dodgy because they're too small and people get suspicious. Thanks, in advance. |

use 2".
they vanish much more magically than the smaller ones. you can see them better from afar they're just better. I think they are also easier to work with.

I'd agree with Frank--not only are the 2" size more visible but they provide much more "impact" when 2 or more appear in the spec.'s hand.
I also like the super soft balls. Gene B

1 and a half inch sponge balls work ok, too, especially if you have small hands or if you are a kid. For most of the time, though, 2 in. are the best.
for unusualness (if that's a word), you can use a lot of small ones, or, you can get big ones(like 5 inches).

Well, I'd probably agree with the 2inches, unless you're like me, who's thirteen, with thirteen size hands.

I use 1.5 inch supersoft sponges. When you get them wet, they expand to the same size as 2-inch, but are significantly more compressible.

Sorry, this may be a bit off of the subject. But, I saw on Murphy's Magic site that Goshman offers the 1" and 1.5" balls in a 50-ball bulk bag. Does anyone know of a dealer that offers them in the bulk quantity? Thanks a lot.

With kids, I use 1.5 super softs as they compress easier in a child's small hand. I also use super softs with Scott Guin's PB&J routine. I still prefer the standard Goshman 2" sponge balls, sans supersoft.

That offer holds for anyone else, too, but be advised that these are not the super soft sponges, they're the "regulars."

Some people try the 2-inch at first and give up because they are harder to hide. It's best to start off with the 1-inch. When you are able work the rountine in an easy manner, transfer to 1.5-inch. Take it up one step at a time. When you are able to work the 2-inch in a professional manner try rabbits and other sponge items.

I have always enjoyed the 1 1/2 inch, just the right size as they say in show biz.

Amazed to find as Scott noticed, that 1.5 inch supersofts expand to 2 inches when washed, but as they dry they return back to size.
I use the 1.5 inchers. |

I always use the one inchers, so I can have over 20 appear in the spectator's hand at the finale. I can't get more than 12 of the 1 1/2" size in someone's hand without suspicion. So I go for quantity over size.

Jaks had an effect called "Multiball" which is worth looking into. You can make a huge number of sponges apparently come from a spectator's hand. I think it may be in in Tarbell 7. It's worth looking up. Forget about his load and use 1 inch or even half inch balls.
