BoingBoing, a very popular group blog, linked to Scarne's Card Cheat film he did for Universal. I'd heard about this, but had never seen it - I did not know there was so much slow motion footage.
Interesting to see technique as it was in 1949.(!) Highlights for me : a nice cut kill @ 8.40, Scarne had a very pretty 2nd deal (10.40),v. nice one hand top palm and what looks like a sensational pass @ 15.42 (I could be wrong here) Well worth a look and even in slow motion his 2nd looks great to me. http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=a7......%3DUTF-8 Cheers

If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

This is indeed like a christmas present, You should have waited until december hehe. Thanks a lot for the video, it is really appreciated. I love to see the legends of card magic and cheating in video, so I can learn from them a bit more.

Is "Scarne on BoingBoing" as good as "Scarne on Card Tricks"?

EXPOSURE . . . !!!
. . . just joking. (Although . . I do wonder how the magic community at that time felt about the film). Anyway. Great sharing. Thanks a lot, it was a joy watching this. Fantastic find.

Well...Basically, it is a bunch of card tricks. But they were presented as gambling (exposure to cheating methods)not as magic tricks.
That way there is no harm done to magic. Wil |
