Title: Stuck! By Greg Rostami
Medium: DVD Arena: Close up, hallway hitman, street commando Available: Any shop, distributed by Murphys Magic Supplies I want to get more coin magic into my performances be it stand up or strolling etc.. Stuck sounded interesting because it uses a quarter, thus making it impromptu, and the vanish looked very clean. I decided to take a risk on this DVD by a fellow I had never heard off to see if it was something that I could use. It is. First let us take a look at the quality of the DVD itself. The DVD is pretty basic, Greg is standing in front of a white backdrop and shows his presentation of Stuck and then explains it. The camera work is fine and you can see everything as Greg make sure to move around to get the best angle for the camera. The only thing that I had to complain about was the sound. It was loud enough and you can understand Greg with no problems the sound is very echo-y. Why people making a professional video can’t figure out how to make the sound better than one would expect in a bathroom is beyond me. This is a minor problem but as you know the sound and clarity is important to me. All in all this is a solid product production wise, What is Stuck? Imagine this, you take a quarter and rub it into the back of your hand, the intention of causing it to pass through your hand. The coin vanishes but doesn’t pass all the way through, you show both hands to be empty, then pull the coin out of the palm of your hand. This is exactly the routine you have with Stuck (you get five different reveals) and it does look great. The secret itself isn’t surprising, I’ve used the same method myself just goofing around and so have many others but in this case Greg has really looked at the presentation and movements required to really sell this routine and make it a worker. There are no sleights other than some very basic coin moves, no magnets (amazing huh?), no strings, no ditching, in fact you can do it with no pockets or sleeves or anything else. Is it easy? Yup. Can you run out and do it now? No, you need to work on the presentation first. This is where an understanding of mime comes in handy, it helps to sell everything. You need to be aware of where specs are, the angles can be rough, but if you are working for people standing in front of you this could be a very mysterious looking vanish and the re-appearance, the one most used by Greg, looks great and will freak out the spectator. This is why this would be great for those of you who are Street Commandos or Hallway Hitmen. It is quick, deadly, and you can use a borrowed quarter. It can also be done in a strolling situation or close up with the audience in front of you. I was very pleased with this and impressed with the buggy eyed Mr. Rostami. He understands performance and has taken a basic concept and made it into a nice piece of magic. I think this one will get some use. |

Ya know....thank goodness I'm not aware if people are here who's products I'm reviewing. I'll look at your site. You really do a heck of a nice job on that vanish, even knowing what you were doing I couldn't catch the action. Impressive stuff.
