Does anyone use the Spider portable stage or anything similar?
How effective are these things at an outdoor event? I'm currently planning on renting a stage from a rental place. Are there better options than jus passing along the rental fees to the client?

Hi Frank! (Great Name, by the way!)
I have THREE of Klaus' Spider Stages and I cannot praise them High enough!!! I usually set them up in a "T" formation with two in the front for myself and helpers, and one behind mainly for props. They are so sturdy that even if you tiptoe over the very edge, and I mean the VERY EDGE, they simply will NOT TIP! Not to mention that they just look so Freakin' Cool!!! =Frank=
The Early Bird may get the Worm, but it's the SECOND Mouse that gets the CHEESE!!!

Hi Frank I would Be carefull but not hestant to use the platforms outside. as long as the bearing points were relatively level. a parking lot would be a perfect spot for them. IO am Saving for a whole set up. I saw the at WMS and the so rocked.

Yes, of course the more level your surface the better.
I purchased my first two from Klaus with the Spider-Berlin Company back in 2004 at Stan Allen's MAGIC:LIVE Convention. 6 months later I bought another one at the World Magic Seminar for a total of 3 stages. They pack so dang small and set up SO EASY that it is hard to believe that they are ROCK SOLID, but they ARE!!! If you are really interested in getting them Frank, I would seriously advise you to check them out for yourself if you are going to MAGIC:LIVE in August! =Frank=
