I've been using Qualatex for years. Then LaRocks sent me a goody bag of Bellatex samples with a recent order and I really liked them. Mostly I liked their metalics and a few shades that I hadn't seen from Qualatex.
I place fairly large orders(for my budget anyways)about every 3-4 months. So, it wouldn't hurt me to just order a batch and then go back to Qualatex if I found someting about them that I didn't like. Just wanted to check with you all first! So, who's got an opionion of one over the other? Does anyone have a systematic way of buying certain colors? (ex. lime green from Qualetex, metallic green from Bellatex...) Chad |

Chad,
I made the switch about 10 months ago. I LOVE Betallatex!!! The reson that I made the switch was two fold. 1. With Qualatex, I was experiencing a lot of pops during fast inflation, and was getting several "siamese" (two balloons stuck together). 2. My hands squeaked way too much when stretching Qualatex balloons, and not so much with Betallatex. I think I just have wierd skin or something. For you, I can't say what would work best, but I prefer Betallatex. I do know a few guys that keep both Qualatex, and Betallatex on hand. I've never asked their reasoning, but I'll see what I can find out, and pass it along, if it's worth repeating. Hope this helps, Mike

At the larger balloon jams (DiamondJam, Twist and Shout, and Summer Balloon Camp), the jam room is sponsored each night by a different manufacturer so you get a chance to get "up close and personal" with both brands.
What I have found is this: Qualatex balloons are quite a bit easier to mouth-inflate. SOME Betallatex balloons have brighter colors than their Qualatex counterparts. Their equivalent to Spring Lilac is very noticeably more colorful and vibrant. So much so, that when put side-by-side the Qualatex balloon almost looks gray. Betallatex balloons "feel" a bit strange to me, but that could be because I am so used to Qualatex. I carry and use Qualatex for the following reasons: 1. I know I can mouth inflate everything I carry. Even though I am capable of mouth-inflating Qualatex 160's, I find it very difficult to mouth-inflate many betallatex 260's and almost impossible to mouth-inflate their 160's and metallic 260's. 2. They "feel" better for me, and I have never had any real problems with squeaking as others have mentioned. I can soften inflated Qualatex 260's by either stretching or other manipulation. Betallatex balloons feel very "tight" to me, even after stretching them both before and after inflation. (You can get almost an extra 6 inches from a fully-inflated balloon by stretching it) 3. Even though some of the Betallatex colors are more vibrant, if you are using Qualatex and the public doesn't have any betallatex in their pocket to compare them to, they will never notice any color difference. 4. I've been using Qualatex for so long that it would take a long time to convert everything over as my supplies run out. It might be different if I needed everything all at once. |

Use what you like and what you need. My own bag contains about 90% Qualatex, and nobody is a bigger cheerleader for the brand than me. I like the feel, I like the quality, and I love their color palet. But there are a few colors, sizes of colors, and other oddities that Qualatex does not make, and that I cannot live without.
My advice would be dicide which brand you like best based on quality, buy all of the colors, shapes, and sizes that you need from that manufacturer first, and then fill in the colors and specilaty balloons that they do not make from everybody else.

I'm thinking that I buy a couple of bags of bellatex with the next order...just to see the difference. Thanks for the input all!
