This effect has been out for a little while now, but I never caught a review on it (on it's own anyway) and I feel it's too strong to not review it.
The basic idea is that you have 5 paper bags that are used to cover something (under each one). They are numbered 1-5 and placed in order (from 1-5). The spectator gets to put 5 cards with the numbers 1-5 on each card ( so one card has the #1, another the #2, etc...) into a see-through bag. They then take one card at a time out and the last card taken out (with whatever number is on it) is to be the last number that will be used in the effect. The first four cards with their numbers on it are the first four bags (with the same numbers) that are smashed with your (or the spectators) hand. Each bag is removed (at the moment it is smashed) and a piece of fruit (or other item if you want that isn't dangerous to hit your hand on) is seen and removed by the performer/spec. Then the last card with it's number and the last bag with the same number as the last card are left. The performer then gets ready to smack his/her hand down on it, but then suddenly stops. They lift the bag to show a knife pointing up. Seemingly, very dangerous. This plays very strong and so far in all my performances, has fooled everybody. I can't say enough great things about it. Points in brief: - Very easy, self-working with only the minimal amount of handling that is usually required in self-working tricks. Because of this easy effect, it's great for the beginner but because of the very high impact, 100% perfect for the professional (and many professionals use it). - Takes up a bit of time so as to kill time but never gets boring for the spec. - Very visually startling when the knife is revealed. - Well made to last - I can't think of anything negative with it so you can bet I really like it.... and use it in my shows. 10/10 for the easy and jaw-dropping effect that it is 10/10 for everything else, nothing negative that I can find Great for stage (not huge, though, as specs in the back may not see the knife too clearly). Also great for parlour and small close-up shows. Great for the mentalist and magician alike. Finally, what else can I say. I really like it and it hasn't failed me in any performance to get great reactions. My highest recommendations. |

Wow! What a blast from the past.
I remember this effect well. Thanks Rodney, for taking the time and writing a review on it.

Yeah, it's a definte older one nowadays, but a great one that fries audiences every single time, often the highlight of the show, it's just that strong.
