When armoured cars are robbed of millions they always say it is a inside job. Whenever a casino loses they always (in my opinion) believe they were robbed because they know they are running a swindle(in my opinion) and the sucker was not suppose to win. So they cry "it had to be cheating for that sucker to have won.

I just spoke with someone connected with some of the surveillance people involved and it seems that a lot of the initial news reports are not accurate. What I heard about the team attacking the 16 deck shufflers is possible but at this point just a rumor. The slug scam with a very simple false shuffle is the only method that I could get confirmation on at this point.

According to the papers, it was 2 MILLION, and from Casino Rama....
31 people so far were arrested, 16 from the states, and 7 are still wanted. A slug was maintained during the shuffle, and they could bet accordingly. Electronic devices were used in the states, but not in the Canadian case. Hope this clears things up a little.

A couple of points:
Someone mentioned electronics in the casinos being a felony in Nevada. I'm thinking that may be why they seem to have avoided Nevada casinos. Another reason may be racist arrogance, thinking they could easily hoodwink the Native American casinos, where most of the cheating seems to have occurred. I'm also thinking the arrests may have a lot less to do with any eagle-eyed surveillance analyst spotting a move than with someone shooting off their mouth. It appears there are at least THIRTY EIGHT people implicated so far. That's a LOT of people to keep quiet. Remember the old saying, "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead..."

As far as the cheaters hitting native casinos, I don't think it has anything to do with being a first nation owned property because if you go to most of these places, the employees are majority non native...

Possibly racist attitudes had nothing at all to do with it, and these casinos were attacked for the same reason Willy Sutton robbed banks, because "That's where the money is" I only mentioned electronics because someone had earlier commented that use of electronic devices to cheat in a gaming establishment is a felony in Nevada, and I was pointing out that this gang seemed to have avoided operating in Nevada. I thought there might have been some connection there. Maybe not. As for your comment about cell phones, they may not be as innocuous as your post implies. There is another thread in this forum about using cell phones as shiners, even going as far as to use the video recording capabilities to record dealt cards. Although I expressed some skepticism, it does show that there are minds at work on the ways to use sophisticated communications devices to gain an advantage at the tables.

If 26/26 is not lopsided and 25/27 is but gives no great advantage, then how lopsided does a lopsided shuffle be before it be significant?

Richard Marcus describes this scam in his book "The Great Casino Heist", not in detail, but still there section on it, he independently came up with that. He and his team scammed I think Four Queens Casino in Vegas, while he still was a dealer there.
He talks more about that in his blog. http://www.richardmarcusbooks.com/blog.htm

No wonder they got caught. I mean that seems noticeably lopsided.

I still think it's more likely that they got caught because one of the approximately 40 people in the mob couldn't keep his/her mouth shut and maintain a low profile. In spite of what you see on detective shows and crime dramas, that's how most busts happen.
It has less to do with how smart the detectives are and a lot more to do with how stupid the crooks are.

Its important to keep in mind that the authorities KNEW it was going and allowed it to continue for over two years. I guess they were trying to get everyone involved.

Well they often know but can not prove. They need evidence that will get a conviction. They often know by the drop that someone is stealing but that doesn't tell them who and how. Its not easy if was say a lopsided shuffle. I mean who can cut 26/26 every time, what can they say about a dealer who dosn't?
