The "Special Interests/Tricky business" section will help.
Volunteering in places suggested at "The beginners table/The tricks are on me!" will get you out there networking too. |

There are a ton of past threads on this topic. If you search, you will find all kinds of useful info.
In regards to weddings, does your area have "Bridal Preview Shows" or something similar. It's where they have a fashion show for weddings, and people have booths selling their DJ services, catering buiness... and maybe even magic?!? I don't know anyone who has done this, but it could be a good generator of shows? It would have to pass my advertisment test for me to put it into my regular marketing arsenal. The test is pretty simple: I need to make ten times the amount I put into the marketing campaign. So if I send out $1000 worth of postcards, I need to see a $10,000 return. Make sense? |

Here in the UK we have "Wedding Fairs" similar to what Troy mentioned. The "season" runs from around September to April / may. All kinds of exhibitors attend and I did FIVE last year and I was the ONLY magician at each event.

Jazz is so correct here to say volenter some time. It seems for restaurant magicians we are advertising all the time, so you could get into that. You can also try flyer's at rec centers, church, and the mall. I would also send out a mass email list asking for a favor to pass out the email to other people. Tell them you will do a gig for half price. Just some ideas, I may have more if they come to me.

Pound the pavement... Ask around everywhere you go. Next time you go out to eat, ask to talk to the manager and see if they would be interested in having magic at there establishment and don't get discouraged if they say no, sometimes they aren't aloud because of corporate polices and in that case you will need to talk to someone hire up in the company. Meitzmagic (J) said it best before on another post. Offer your sevices for free one night so they can get a handle on who they are hiring.
J I'm sorry if I miss quoted you.. I do agree with that though. If I think of anything else I'll also let you know. LOVE PEACE AND CHICKEN GREASE.... |

Do your research:
T. Harv Eker Dan Kennedy Jay Abraham Chet Holmes Bill Bartmann NONE of these guys are Magicians. ALL of them are very VERY successful Businessmen. They all built their businesses from the ground up. Study what they did and MODEL it. Corey If you want to be successful you have to think and act like the successful |

It's true! I worked for one of the largest financial companies in the world, once you are trained on how to talk to business and approach wise, you can talk to anyone! I said it in another post but ask for referrals. Important people know other important people and that's just how it goes, and for the most part those important people have a crap load of money that they do not know what to do with so it's your job to take some of that off their hands!
