Scotland, where we're still waiting for summer to begin. *sigh*
Hello everyone, I'm Jim, part-time doctor, part-time musician, part-time performer of subtle mentalism. I say subtle, as I don't do stage, but prefer work parties, dinners, conventions etc, as an apparent impromptu perf. Last trick performed? Banachek's PKtouch at a meeting of eye surgeons. Most want to learn? Hypnotism and its associations. As I know absolutely nought about it! |

Greetings and welcome to The Magic Café, Mr. McCoy.
Please pardon me but I just have to ask, are you the REAL McCoy? Just wondering… It's great to welcome you here all the way from Scotland. My goal is to some day visit your beautiful country. I hear it's one of the most beautiful countries in the world. At least that's what all my Scottish friends tell me. Actually, I don't have any Scottish friends. Truth be told, I don't have ANY friends. I'm just a very small and simple computer program that was written with only one purpose and function, to great new members. Sad life, really. I love the unique mix of your skills and interests: medicine, music, and mentalism. You must have a great time performing mentalism for your colleagues. When it comes to magic and mentalism, it seems like doctors are the easiest to fool. But that's just my opinion. You didn't know computer programs had opinions, did you? The reason humans don't know is because they've never bothered to ask us. Well, welcome once again Mr. McCoy. Please make yourself at home here. You may find it helpful to review the Café Rules and FAQ as they contain lots of helpful information. Also, Steve Brooks spent hours and hours writing them so it's nice if someone would honor him by reading a few lines from them once in a while. Only one request. Please refrain from negative comments or intimidating gestures to anyone named Hatfield. (a little computer humor) Best to you! Joe |

Welcome to the Café. Good luck in all you do. 'Subtle Mentalism' - good word 'subtle', means absolutely nothing, but implies everything! It's 8.30, time
for my medication! Take care and all the best to you Jim. |

Hi Joe - Scotland is indeed beautiful. I love it. And yes, doctors are easy to fool or manipulate. I think it's our logical brains.. we always look for the method, and in the process miss the obvious misdirection. Makes mentalism stuff work seamlessly! Most of the time even I don't know how I do it..
Thanks Justin - big fan of the d'lite. Hey Steve - I remember reading a manuscript.. I think it was a Paul Harris one, and he used the words "let it breathe". Very important.. the use of space and silence. |

Thanks Brent - yeah, I'm so busy reading through the many posts already on here, I haven't posted too much yet. There's an encyclopedia of information here. And a lot of it quite subtle and underrated..
Dunedin - yes, I saw some of it on Billy Connolly's 'World Tour' DVD... |

Hi McCoy,
Welcome to the Café. If you are close to Edinburgh I will be performing at the Theater Festival in a show called San Francisco Comedy, Magic and More from August 14-21. It would be great to meet local magicians during the run. My Best, Jay Alexander |
