Can mentalism be used in a Gospel Magic presentation or is that considered contradictory? The way I use mentalism is just to show that there are coindences rather than claim I can read minds. Is there a way to do this with a Christian spin? If so how and with what?
Thanx guys for any response.

I do Devin Knight's Glass box predition in my crusades. I tell them even though I really can't predict the future, I know of one who knows what their future is, Jesus Christ.

Hi Matt:
There is a small, inexpensive book by Richard Osterlind I think you should get. The book is "The Principles of Magic" and deals with Magic, Mentalism, Faith, and God. I may be wrong, but I believe Osterlind is a Christian and deals with the issues from that perspective. It's been a while since I've read the book, but it was excellent! Ron |

I just did a mentalism effect this morning in our church service.
The topic has been discussed before, and at times it has been lively. I am a Christian mentalist. It can be interesting. I've been assured by a pentacostral that I was doing the work of the devil because only two persons can know the human heart, God and the Devil, and I'm not God so therefore...
I've found that non-evangelicals are a bit more, what's a good term, sensible about such matters. |
