Fantasy Magi & Big Babies in the same show? Too much?

How could this be too much? What is the paradigm for a "good show" from which you are viewing this "problem"?
I pose that there is no problem here at all! Don't over-think this...this may be the answer?
"Yes, Virginia, there really are people named Riddle...isn't that AMAZING! And to think of all the royalties I'm missing out on! SCANDALOUS!"

I agree...what's the problem?

I seems to me just the opposite ... I'd think long and hard about the presentation before putting these two in the same show. Two audience members coming up and placing their heads with other bodies? Seems like it would look to be the same bit to the audience. Would you do Broom Suspension and Super-X in the same show? Hippity Hops and Fraidy Cat Rabbit? Two blendos? A cut-and-restored rope with a cut-and-retored ribbon?
No, I'd leave one out. |

OK...I see your point. Great, as always!

Unless it's the spectator come up to help with "instant magician" and the performer does "big baby"....and put wide enough apart in a show could be really great given good routines....

Ahhh...another good point.
That's what I love about magic...there are no right answers! Mark. |

Still, two "head on different body" routines are very similar ... would you float you assistant on a broom, then later do the stool levitation to yourself? Maybe, maybe not, but it's something to seriously consider before doing both. |

I would prefer to have more variety in my program. Not too many of one thing helps give your show more texture. I use the Bowlarama effect from Kevin James where a bowling ball is produced from a drawing. I also have the Remote Controlled Drawing Board that I've been rehearsing with and have been wondering about whether I would use two drawing type effects in the same program. The first is a production and the second comes to life in a different way but I'm still not decided.

Smartini,
Do you allow the bowling ball to drop to your client's floor? I have found that this may be a bad idea but I've seen some do it...much to their client's and "new gym floor" dismay....or do you simply hold it? The problem: I personally find this effect captivating and fun...yet when holding the ball instead of letting it drop, some may regard it as "fake" unless I hand it out...is this what you do? Kevin James is pure genius! |

The Big Babies can be a comedy routine with you as the Big Babies not an assistant and it can be part of a routine about how you started in magic right after you dis some stunning magic.
The Fanatsy Magician is a routine involving someone from the audience which everyone has a connection to because they know that person. If it is a birthday child, that child is the star and both the parents and the child love the routine. It is a routine that can establish your trademark in yout local area, like it has with Ken Scott. Two routine similar can work if one routines them differently. Just my thoughts on this topic.

How about bowl-a-rama, the axtell drawing board, cardiographic and sketch-o-magic all in the same show?
P.S. Just kidding. Don't do it.
