Sorry for double post, but...
I bought some rubberbands for the bite out half dollar (traditional). They don't really work because there is some extra rubberband, see picture. I am extremely displeased and need help ASAP. Thank you, S Click here to view attached image. |

Hello,
Where did you buy them? There are a few places that sell the proper diameter bands for this gaff. I believe Roy Kueppers and the Magic Warehouse. It looks like the band you have currently installed is too large of an internal diameter. Don't forget. These bands come in about 5 different diameters and 3 different thicknesses. For instance 1/4", 1/8", 3/16", 5/16" and 3/8". Light gauge, Medium gauge and Large gauge. As you can see, the difference between them is sometimes as small as a 1/16". Won't make a big difference in normal applications, like dental braces, but on a coin, whether it's a folding or flipper, half dollar or dollar, it makes a big difference. Go to a smaller gauge band. Don't quote me on this, but I believe you require a 1/8" medium. All the coin gaffers, like Lassen, Schoolcraft and Kuepper have this down to a science. You could give them a call or you'll have to experiment or purchase your bands directly from a magic dealer. Hope this helps. Jim |

Jimmyj -- Thanks. I had suspected there were different thicknesses. That would explain why mine have the same problem as sahunhong's.

Maybe it is the way you are placing the band. I have a three-pieces folding coin, and sometimes, when I place the band in the wrong way, it looks like the one you showed.

Go to your dentist office and ask them for orthodontic bands that are used for braces. They come in many different thicknesses. THey work perfectly for folding halves and flipper coins and are free from your dentist!

1/8' for Quarters
3/16" for Half Dollars and they also come in three thicknesses, you want the thinnest, called Light.
