I am starting to get really frustrated with this...
In my large cage I have 2 males and 1 female that get along very well. The only exception is that when one of my eggs hatches, the Dad tends to take the baby out of the nest and literally peck it to death! (It has killed 3 already!) I am not sure what to do about this. I don't want to take the Dad out of the cage and just leave Mom to feed it (The other bird dosen't seem to have any interest in what is going on at all) I have only been able to sucessfully raise 1 dove so far (he is about 7 months old now) Any suggestions? |

Don't think I can help, but are you sure it is the father (and not the other male?).

It may be because you have the other male in the cage. Males are territorial. So two possibilities, bird killing the squabs is not the father, or it is killing them because of the presence of the other male in the cage. Either way that bird has to come out of the cage once they hatch, and I wouldn't leave the "disinterested male" in the cage either.

Shane, two's company/three's a crowd. You need to get one of the males out of the cage. Make sure you remove the non-parent.
