Happy Watermelon Day. Nice concept. My wife went into labor on Thanksgiving day with my youngest daughter. Had the baby in the middle of the night (techinically the next day). Perhaps in honor of that my family should refer to Thanksgiving as Turkey Day. Wait.....that my have already been done. ;-p

Watermelon man is a movie that starts rather silly then turns brutal and then somewhat moralistic. A white, opinionated racist man wakes up one morning and he is black. He then has to deal with his racist neighbors who now see him as an enemy. He has to adapt he has no choice. A scene that makes people stop and think is when he is running down the street to catch a bus, and everyone wants to know what he stole. They can't imagine a black man running unless he is a thief.
The New York Times called that movie "A racial farce."

It's Watermelon Day?
Someone make sure to inform Al Gore, Robert Kennedy, the members of Earth First!, Greenpeace, and the Sierra Club. (Green on the outside, red on the inside.) Carrie |

"Watermelon Man" is an excellent movie. Directed by Melvin Van Peebles, father of Mario VaN Peebles.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Watermelon Day is every August 9th.
Don't ever forget it. If so, I'll always remind y'all. And will write the story of the day in my journal as I have done since I've had it.
