The suggestion of a club has been mentioned before. However, you are looking for a mentor. Where else would be a better place to find one than a gathering of magicians? A club is the best place to start your search. Also, as mentioned above, save your money and attend a master class and/or lectures somewhere. Also, you might want to start looking at conventions. They are a great gathering spot where you can meet and share with other magicians. I have been in the close-up lounge at a few conventions and have been able to pick the minds of some great magicians. Some of these were well known pros as well as great amateur magacians. These experiences have been invaluable to me. It is well worth the time and cost. If you want to learn, you must first put yourself in a position to do so. You can do that by finding other magicians. That is why clubs, conventions, and other gatherings are suggested over and over.

You must meet with new magicians and also you must talk with masters. These will help you I think.

It took me a LONG time to find someone who would take the time to teach me some things.
Don't give up, it will happen. Good Luck
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Socrates was a great mentor. And the one thing that he knew was that he did not know anything.

A mentor is a volunteer. You meet them and find you both have common ground. They like the way you think, act, treat and respect others. You can pay some one to teach you, but you can only earn the guidance and respect of some one to mentor you.
P.S. Humble goes a long way.
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.

There are 2 primary clubs in the Nashville area. The first is IBM Ring 37, the Nashville Magic Club (http://www.nashvillemagicclub.com) and the second is SAM Assembly 50, the Music City Mystics (http://www.nashvillesam.com). Both clubs are fantastic and would welcome you as a visitor. There are several full-time professionals in each organization as well. The local SAM assembly also sponsors the SYM group. All 3 organizations meet at It's Magic! magic shop in the Hermitage (http://www.itsmagiconline.com).
Good luck! -dd
Tally-ho! And Tuscarora too!
