For a performer who has a few resources, a nightly/weekly review show (or a one shot TV appearance in the coming weeks), and unafraid of topical humor (Must use soon before the relevance expires - just as long they send me a percentage!);-)

Assistants bring out with 3 tall, short-legged, panels - show both sides, fold and assemble into open booth-stall. Magi installs a full-length,swinging door in front- opens to show stall empty - closes door. A leg immediately swings out from beneath the side panel to nudge magician. He opens door to see it empty, closes door to only have it happen again.

Finally magi swings open door unexpectedly to see a stuffy, old senator sitting on a commode inside - he leans out giving a friendly tug on magi's jacket - sees the audience, panics- slams door.

Magi cautiously opens door again, only to see a cop exiting w/ the senator by his collar.

Magi shakes head, closes door, waits 2 beats, then door opens itself as a small mob of reporters w/camcorders, flashing cameras and notepads in hand pour out clown-car style towards stage-right Senator as he's being read his rights.

Bewildered magi checks stall to see if there are any more and closes door. He appears crestfallen as he then hears angry knock - exasperatedly he opens door again to see highly uptight wife w/ folded arms and purse who comically storms out to berate hubby.

Stall is finally collapsed and removed as magi quips about "Wow, that fellow sure had a WIDE STANCE...not that there's anything WRONG with that!" or maybe something about needing "a bigger tent" or some groaner to that effect.

BONUS effect: how about a little, walk-around "Mini Spirit Stall" where a ghostly, dark-trousered, black-socked, business-shoed foot keeps appearing underneath each time the door is closed on the empty stall (maybe better performed for bar tables/booths apart from the dinner hour!)

Actually, I was imaging Kevin James doing this bit, with the little Chaplin fellah in drag as the wife.
