You know sometimes you come across something so strong you just after to say...Wow! I know you coin guys have beat this to death, but I am new to coins and was searching You tube watching all the basic copper silver stuff and came across "Coin One". Wow, lol...
I have never heard of Homer Liwag so I had no preconceived idea of what I was going to see. What a treat! I was floored... I searched Homer on here and read all your comments and now have a greater understanding, but I'm here to tell you, even from a magician's perspective, but not a coin guy, this was amazing. Just think of what lay people must think.. I can't wait to see if I can learn some if not all these moves. Lucky me, I just bought a Dean's set and a flipper to match but didn't know what I was going to do with them... I'm not rich, I just told myself if I'm going to invest my time and learn coins, I might as well start with the right tools. Now I know what I'm going to do with them... Coin One... P.S. I know what your thinking...I'm not totally crazy jumping in with coin one, I also just got Roth's Expert Coin Magic book and some of his Dvd's... I will learn the basics... But might as well have some fun doing it

Good choice Ref! I have performed "CoinOne" or at least a variation of it, with some additions to the basic routine, several times before some small groups and have got nothing, but great reactions. Mostly the spectators leave stunned and amazed. It will be a challenge since you are just getting started in coin magic, but it is something to work towards. The good part is, despite the fact of how astounding it may appear when performed, most of the routine is actually fairly easy. There is one move, which will take some time to learn mainly, because it takes kind of a knack to do and get down.
I kind of started out that way myself a little over two and a half years ago, but my routine to beat was "Winged Silver" by David Roth, his version anyway. Quite a challenging routine for the beginner. I can do the routine in my sleep right now, but it took a long time to get to that point and I even can perform it with silver dollars, which if you know the routine, is not an easy task. I actually think I had a more difficult time learning that routine than I did with "CoinOne". I wish you the best of luck in your new career or hobby as the case may be. You have good taste my man.....

Hi Ref,
IMHO it doesn't matter where you start - just work at it....don't make the mistake of buying everything that comes along - there's no such thing as a free ride. I was once taught a lesson - do something a thousand times - THEN go back and learn it again.... Kyf

My very first coins across was Four Coins & A Filipino (almost 15 years ago now) which we all know was the original CoinOne routine. Back then I too thought I was probably crazy for taking on too much too soon. Believe me, you're not crazy at all for jumping in with this as a beginner. While your presentation skills may need time and experience (I don't know) I assure you that there is nothing more you need to perfect the handling of this routine than patience & practice so don't worry about it.
I also own Jamie's coins. Do yourself a big favor and always practice this over a carpet or your bed or anything soft until you get that one move down pat. Fight the urge to even dare practice over hard surfaces. You'll hate yourself if you drop those gorgeous coins and put a ding in them. CoinOne is the only 4 coins across routine I perform...with very good reason. BTW, I'm #138 (lol) peace, charlie |

Hi Charlie,
Couldn't agree MORE with your statement - I've a set of Peace Dollars for harder surfaces and a Schoolcraft Dean's set for carpets, bouncy castles, feather beds....... BTW - I'm #777 (lol) Kyf

Hi Thomas
"777"? Wow... isn't that the mark of the neighbor of the beast? I think of it more like the Jackpot at Vegas. Kyf

I agree with Kyf as I hit 777 the last time I was in Lost Wages and it was quite magical! Sad to say the gambling gods have not been so gracious since however with my new found love of magic I can go there and actually see a show not to mention visit some of the shops they have around town! Hmmmmmmm.....

I received my copy of CoinOne over the weekend. I have a Dean's set in the mail and should have later this week. I've been practicing some of the moves from the DVD and can't wait for the set to get here as I don't have another s***l.
