hi all ive only been doing magic now for a month and a half, after i got given david blaines book for xmas. i used to do magic when i was quite young and his book reawoke that interest!
but anyway i am interested in getting good at cards, coins and mentalism, doing as many ungimmicked tricks as possible. im trying to avoid doing any big showy things or using any props that don't look like normal items. Ive got paul daniels adult magic which has a few tricks ive taken, and 165 card tricks by jean hugard- with these and the internet i have quite a few decent tricks up my sleeve, and am pretty confident in palming, double lifting, and a few other basic sleights. if anyone has any advice on books etc for what im trying to learn it would be appreciated! i have royal road to card magic and experat at the card table ordered btw thx josh |

One of the books that helped me was BOBO's modern coin magic.

Welcome Josh! It's great to have you here. As others have mentioned you can find just about anything you could want and more. Post, post, post and post. Don't forget after making 50 legitimate post you will gain access to the banquet room and a few other forums as a reward. It's these places where we can talk freely about our magic (slieghts, technique step by step) and pass on the how to's of magic. The Café is the single most important website to me. I have learned alot from our patrons. Since you have joined us that makes one less of them and one more of us!! Wishing you all the best. Lee.

I think that you should get a connection with another magician. Maybe he then can teach you some of his experience-- everything from sleights to routines + lots of more!
Or you can join a club when you feel ready.
