Not sure really where to post this but I feel like sharing.
I decided to check out a new game store in my area and when I was there someone saw the deck of cards that I have been practicing with and offered to do a trick for me. They showed me a nice self-worker (not sure what it was called) and I felt like it was a good opportunity to try my hand at the sleights and other effects I was practicing. All in all I preformed several card tricks(being careful not to repeat the slights I was using) including the ambitious card and levitating card trick. When we got out side after the store closed and I light up a ciggerete I remembered that I still had my Cig/Coin Gimmick and decided to go with that. After palming the gimmick and switching it with an audience members quarter that I borrowed I preformed the trick almost effortlessly(to my surprise). After standing there for a moment I decided to perform the balducci levitation and my god was it a great finisher. One of the guys said that he never met anyone that could do what I did. Man did I feel great. This is the beginning of magic for me and this experience only lended itself to push me to take a much more aggressive approach in my learning. I can only hope that the better I get the better the reactions I will receive. A truly remarkable experience. -Domini |

Congratulations, Domini, that's what magic is really all about: Entertaining the audience and having fun doing it.

Good for you. I have problems pronouncing Domini, may I suggest Domininini? Has kind of a rock and roll sound to it.

The others are right. Stop smoking while you're young. We've already lost too many good magicians in just the last year to cancer. It's not a pretty disease to have or to watch someone you love die from. I should know. I lost most of my family to it.

I'm only 23 years old, but I've been doing magic to pay my bills since I was 12, and if there was one thing I wish somebody would have told me, it is this: Buy books. Leave the one-purpose props at the magic shop to collect dust. They'll still be there when you can comfortably afford them, if you decide that's the route for you. Oh, and before you spend $50 on any of those one-trick DVDs, do your wallet a favor and browse through Tarbell.

Congrats on the first venture out. Now take out one of your silks poke your thumb into the center to create a well and take that last cigarette and vanish it and never smoke again. I almost died last year due to smoking.
Stop now and I'll give you a free one day personal coaching session in my studio. Mike |
