The word is getting out. We have a pool of IBM Junior members in and around Raleigh to draw from. I've also been promoting the program with the kids & parents who have expressed a real interest in magic at my restaurants, fair, school and private shows. We're expecting a good "Open House" showing on Nov. 3rd.
I'm very excited about how this program is shaping up.

Skip,
Skip has shared his thoughts with me regarding the new MYI program and I was thrilled when he was appointed to the IBM (International) Youth committee. Skip is a fellow member of Raleigh Ring 199, and he always does a thorough job. He is committed to help youth enjoy learning magic and I know our IBM youth membership will grow with his new approach to making MYI exciting to them! Thanks for your committment, Skip and best of luck with the program. Your friend, Mike Gorman IBM International President 91-92 |

Posted: Nov 5, 2007 10:21am Ring #199's M.Y.I. Open House on Saturday, November 3rd was a great success! Visiting teens and their parents were all smiles as they joined the new program. We couldn't have asked for a more positive turn-out. Spurred on by this success, we're developing a massive grassroots marketing campaign to reach out to every corner of our region...for adult and youth members alike. International President Phil Willmarth took time out from his very busy schedule to attend pledging his strongest support to the local and international endeavor. Dr. Aubrey Fine, National Youth Committee Chairman, and his committee were given well-deserved accolades for the progress made in reviving this invaluable project. We're on our way! I'm reaching out to our I.B.M. Rings that already have successful youth programs running...and there are several that deserve high recognition. Your insight and advice would be invaluable as we revive the international program. Please drop me an email so I can touch base with you. Many thanks to Pres. Willmarth, Dr. Fine, Mike Gorman, TVP Tom Beamon, Tom Vojorhan, Steve Hart and countless others for their excellent advice and support! More to come! Skip

Skip,
I want to congratulate you on the work you have done in creating a valuable M.Y.I. youth program for Ring 199 in Raleigh, NC. He has also produced a working draft of a Ring Handbook for all M.Y.I. youth programs. I have had the pleasure of reading the handbook and I must say this is the first item I have seen which could become the back bone for the I.B.M.'s youth program. Good work. I encourage others who are interested in supporting the youth program within the I.B.M. to contact Skip and offer your interest and support. Steve Hart I.B.M. President's Advisory Committee

Skip,
Congratulations! It is certainly important to career paths and hobbies. My start was at age 13 in professional entertainment. I'll never have a way to repay those who helped me along the way. But I will also never forget them. I will be up and down the Atlantic coast this Spring and summer. If there is someway that I can help, just ask. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Steve & Bob, thank you...and I intend to take you up on your offer, Bob!
The best way to repay those who helped us reach our goals is to carry on their tradition of service by lending our experience, guidance and shoulders to the next generation. Keep their memories and thoughtfulness alive. Move it forward!

Just held our second M.Y.I. meeting with nine new members and a group of very enthusiastic and supportive parents. We have four additional new members who sent regrets but plan to attend future meetings. Int'l President Willmarth and Ring #199 President Fred Rosenbaum were on-hand to observe and welcome the new families; a high honor considering that Pres. Willmarth had JUST returned from his month-long and grueling Asian tour.
It is VERY exciting to watch this program unfold and begin to take on a life of its own. We begin our first beginner's class in January using Mark Wilson's Magic Course as a textbook. These teens are full of great ideas, hopes and plans for their magic future. It motivated each adult Advisor to witness this breath of fresh enthusiasm. This is gonna be FUN!
