I liked it up until they removed the plastic so early.

I found this to be a terrible illusion. Painfully obvious to me and a layman that just watched it.

You have got to remember this is from probably about the 60s in the uk and our expectations now are a lot higher than back then

Yes, for the 60's I find the tricks fine. Method is not bad, I suppose it work on the audiance.
The paint in this period was often like this.it is more than 40 years ago ! Evolution of designs is normal. A great idea. |

I'm 100% sure Ali Bongo was working in a circus in the early 70s At that time he wasn't a magician. He was a comic acrobat on a high flexible lamp pole. I met him in 73 or 74 in Budapest. So this video gotta be late 70s or early 80s.

Actually ali bong was a magic consultant for a doctor who episode in 1963 so he must have been a magician in the 60s

Also David Nixon died on lung cancer in 1978 so it obviously was before then,

The concept was good sort of a vampire block and through the eye of a needle combined.

I put this video at around 1973-75. I saw him on TV as a child I was born in '67!

I had the pleasure of having coffee with Ali Bongo at Blackpool Magic Convention a couple of years back. Me and my girlfriend at the time got the drinks then realised all the tables were full, except for 2 seats at one particular table. I asked the gentleman at the table if he minded us sitting with him, he turned round and I nearly fell over! Great guy, who has contributed so much to magic.

I kind of liked this idea. Could have used a bit of redesigning. Just need to make the sheet of glass/plastic full on all sides so that every side sticks out a foot or so, which would be pretty easy to do although method would have have to change slightly. If I were to do this. I would also have the plastic never be removed either which would need a bit more redesigning. Neat concept though.

Many years ago MAK Magic produced an effect titled "Belly Buster" where the assistant laid on a shelf and a large square "weight" was lowered through the body. I presume it was a large-scale "Vampire Block".

It was incredebly obvious, but for the 60's it is a nice illusion.
BTW I'm TWELVE YEARS OLD!
But i'm still really good. I do magic for kindergarten at my local elementary school, and everybody in my school loves my tricks. Please treat me like an ADULT! Thank You! |
