Not sure if this should go in the 'Secrets Section', anyway I'll try not to tip anything here. (mods: please move this if necessary)
The Charlie Miller move, that is the one where the performer stacks the cups and the ball passes through the top of the middle cup to the bottom. This has been the slieght (not sure if it can be called a slieght), taught in every begineers magic set which includes any sort of cups and balls routine. I am aware that the pros still use it. Question is, has this move been exposed to the layperson? will it seems obvious to a layman? I am fairly new to the cups and balls and am currently only starting to build a full routine. I would just like some of your opinions regarding this move from those who use it in your routines. Does it still fool the pants off audiences etc. Apreciate all comments.

If done properly and in the right part of your set... of course it will

CHARLIE MILLER move does not come in every beginners magic set.
the routine that does come with almost all beginners magic set is a self working penetration of the balls one at a time.

Pardon my ignorance, but.. is the only difference is that one is from the fist and the other is from the cup?

Different means not the same. It's not the same. One is an out of sight penetration of a ball through a cup while covered by another cup. The other is a "visual" dropping of a ball through a single cup.
It might seem the same, but they are really quite different in technique, handling, and visual appearance.

Of all the moves in the cups and balls, I think that the Charlie Miller Drop Through move is my favourite of them all.
"Kicking" the ball just shows how much thought Charlie Miller put into his move.

I agree. I've been tweeking and changing my routine for awhile now and the one constant is that the Charlie Miller move is always in there somewhere
