I figured I had to get people to read it before they could respond to it....

I don't know nothing about that. You imagine some guy goes in and taps his foot cuz he just does and is met by someone thinking it is a come on or how ever it works. Lots of broken noses.

I have been severely nearsighted all my life, but had to go to bifocals a few years ago when my ability to focus closely through my regular lenses became impaired (aging eyes).
I found myself a bit dizzy and nauseated for the first hour or so, and then became acclimated to them and have had no major problems since. The only thing I still find irritating is when I am in a store, and want to see what's on a lower shelf, I find myself looking through the wrong part of the bifocal. I either have to stand on the far side of the aisle to look at the lower shelves, or slip my glasses way down on the tip of my nose so I can look down through the upper part of the lens.
Woke up.
Fell out of bed. Dragged a comb across m' head. |

Got progressives last year. After getting over the reality of my mortality, it was a great move. It took me about a day to get used to them.

Gosh darn it, you all convinced me to go ahead rather than have reading glasses and seeing glasses. Thank you! Now you can tell your wifes that you advised someone to go bi.

Bifocals without the line are called progressive lenses. The line is replaced with a small region that goes through a gradual change, instead of an abrupt change. I got them, and it's worth it, at least for me it is.
However, if you like to read for long periods of time, as I do, I'd get reading glasses too. Looking down for a long time while reading is awkward, and it makes my eyes tired too. I've been told that one disadvantage of bifocals is that some people have trouble going down stairs normally, because looking down is blurry, however, I'm so nearsighted that even though the focal length from the top to the bottom of my lenses is very different, the actual magnification difference isn't a very large percentage of the total strength of the lenses, so I don't have that problem. I have very thick lenses.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

I use the TWO pair method...I wear my regular glasses to see distance, but sometimes I have to read as I'm driving so I put on my reading glasses at the same time as I wear the regs.
I also wear contacts. In that case, when I read I have to wear reading glasses... I'm all man, would NEVER go Bi... See my point? |
