Here are a few resources to help you understand the idea:
Mathematics, Magic and Mystery by Martin Gardner (He has a entire chapter on the topic!) Wikipedia: Missing Square Puzzle The Triangle Problem A Faulty Dissection (Java required) Winston Freer's Tile Puzzle (QuickTime video) Curry's Paradox (Java required) The Martin Gardner book will help you create your own such puzzles, too! |

There is a dollar bill version of this I bought at Haines House of cards in Norwood Ohio I purchased mine from Bill Pryor. It is a fine addition to a money routine.

Alan Warner also offers a very attractive version with a teak box and plastic pieces. His is called the Red Chinese Puzzle (or something very similar).
In typical Warner thinking, there is a kicker finale where the entire puzzle changes from white to red to match the original "extra" red piece. Julie |

If you like the Leprechaun Puzzle, you might also like the Vanishing Eggs and other variations.
There's also Sam Lloyd's original Get Off The Earth puzzle, which was the same idea, but circular. |

Robert E. Neale's "Magic Mirror" has a variation on this puzzle you might also like.
