you gave me a fright. Slim, that's where I first saw this thing. It's kind of intriguing, but that's all I was able to find.

It looks like a much more evil looking astrolabe.
http://www.astrolabes.org/ Looks like its made by Alchemy Gothic, so in other words, its worthless as a real scientific instrument. However it does have a nice look to it. Probably something DaVinci would have created. |

It is an early mechinism designed to predict future conjunctions and rendevoux points of bodies in space. A large version (actually huge and 3-D) can be seen at Disneyland at the entrance to tomorrowland. It used to work properly with the globes and planets pssing within each ohters orbits but these days it just turns as a group.

Gee Doug,
Given your picture, apparently it also transports those that know what it is into the past.
I asked the boy beneath the pines.
He said, "The master's gone alone herb picking, somewhere on the mount, cloud hidden, whereabouts unknown." (Chin Tao, 777-841, trans. by Alan Watts) |

Khopri,
Most of what Da Vinci created were "real scientific insturments". (Well, not the Mona Lisa, obviously, or his other, mostly unfinished, works of art.) But, I'm thinking I know what you mean. It does have a certain "feel". Raven

I got a feeling that astrolabe measures distances of dark bodies and invisible planets...such as the approaching Groth....or the movements of Xoth.
Doug, you finally got around to the Ripper's technique of providing the dark gods some tributes for sinsiter boons of immortality and youth? Bravo!

Just an interesting point, the word "Anguistralobe" does not appear in the OED (Oxford English Dictionary). It is probably not considered a word in the English lexicon. What language is it?
Beware of this and that.

I think the name was just invented for this gothic version of an astrolabe.
Nice piece to do some weird magic around.

Fraughton, tell me how you like it when you receive it.
Now we only need a routine for it from the curator.
