I understand there have been such conferences/get-togethers in the past, does anyone know of one upcoming? If not, perhaps we should work towards creating one???

Christopher,
http://www.icbmmagick.com/pages/Gathering2007.html Wish I were going, but work won't give me the time off. Congratulations on the Ghost, by the way. Raven

It seems to me that the ICBM has one periodically. From the limited materials I have seen they look good. I beleive Weerd Weekend has been ended, though if there are more I would attend. I have been to two.
Beware of this and that.

I recently returned home from the Annual 'Charles Cameron Gathering', 5th. to 8th. October in Edinburgh, Scotland.
There were about 50 attendees, including Joe Cabral (Grand Magus of the ICBM), Ed Loveland, Rich Lavengood, John Henry Flood and David Goodsell from the U.S. Hugo Vesper (F.I.S.M.President) from Sweden. plus Roni Shachnaey, B.J.Powers and Michael Diamond from the U.K. Many brought their wives, partners and girl friends. It was organised by Karl Bartoni and a great time was had by all! Edinburgh is a great city for such an event, with ghosts, poltergeists and haunted graveyard trails, as well as great magic of the weird, storytelling kind! There will be another one, around the same time next year. Attendance is by invitation and only 'fun' people are encouraged to come! If you are interested, let me know and I will pass on your details to Karl!

Leslie: Please do pass on that into to Karl for next year; it sounds right up my alley. The ICBM event looks great too but I will have to give it a miss this year as I was asleep at the wheel and could not prepare in time. And thanks for the comments Mark! Cheers.

The ICBM Gathering happens each and every year.
With Joe's blessing I did an ICBM West here almost two years ago. Each year depends upon the line-up of presenters and guests, but it is something regular for the Bizarre Community. Jeff also does some bizarre work and sessions in Las Vegas. Magically, Walt |

With reference to The Charles Cameron Edinburgh Gathering, you can contact Karl direct by clicking on to: karl1a@dragonskull.co.uk/ Provisional dates for 2008 are October 3rd.until 5th. If anyone else is interested in attending the only Bizarre Gathering in the U.K. then get in touch with Karl asap. But remember, attendance is by invitation and we only like 'fun' people - Big-Time Charlies are NOT encouraged!

Leslie is not kidding about invitation only!
I tried to attend a few years ago and was denied. (Long story, I was asked to join a exclusive(?) group, agreed, was then denied membership in that group, then told the gathering that year was for the exclusive group members only.) If you want to go, contact Karl early and make sure before you buy your plane tickets. Tony |

Tony,
I am sure that if you wished to come this time, you would be made very welcome! I don't know the circumstances of your earlier refusal. There was/is an exclusive element that for a time took itself a bit seriously but I think that the faction involved now realise how pompous it all seemed to the others. There is still a little ritualistic activity, but much more tongue in cheek and laid back than before, and in fact, considerably less than that experienced by me at last year's ICBM Gathering! The main problem that we have nowadays is accommodation. We find that attendances of more than fifty becomes unwieldy. Unlike the ICBM, we have no central hotel where everything takes place. Folk are accommodated in miscellaneous hotels and guest houses within half a mile of each other. If you have been reading my recent postings on the Shadow Digest, you will have seen that our main venue for shows etc. has been changed for the third time in as many years! Hopefully we will be able to use the new location for some years to come. It is ideal for our modest needs - although about five miles from our hotels! The mild inconveniences actually add to the fun and the mix of attendees this year was just about perfect - so do come if you can - I for one would be delighted to see you!

I did not mean anything against Karl's (or Alex's)get together. I was just reinforcing what you said about "Invitation Only" One should not plan ahead and purchase airplane tickets (especially from the US given the current economy) until one is confirmed. On a side note, like the other organization you mentioned, I've been treated poorly and cannot support their activates, but I do wish them both well. Tony |

I've been going to the ICBM Gatherings for years (12 years, I think) and have always had a good time. This Gathering is open to all who wish to attend.
I hope to see some new faces this year and meet with some old friends. I've also been to a couple of the Endinburgh Gatherings. These are also a blast. All in all, I think the Bizarre Magicians are the friendliest in the business (and I've been involved in magic some 20+ years). My wife MUCH prefers the Bizarre-related gatherings over mainstream magic conventions. Magickally, Dave Birtwell |

I can second Dave's comments. The group as a whole is very welcoming and friendly, and the convention is well planned and fun. I've had a great time every time I've attended and have met some very interesting people as well as old friends at each gathering. When I first attended (with Dave) it was an evening event with dinner and a show, and it has since evolved into a full 3-day convention. It’s a fantastic time for anyone interested in this form of entertainment.
Dave, this is the 13th year for you (1994 was the first, if I remember correctly). Tony |

The Gathering in Connecticut has been the one convention that I make sure I attend every year. I've been there since number 5 I believe.
It's always a great time and the people are very friendly. Even first time attendees comment on how they were made to feel like family almost immediately. It's a great convention, one that you won't want to miss especially if you're a bizarrist. http://www.icbmmagick.com/pages/Gathering2007.html Hope to see you all there. EVILDAN.
