What books or vidoes would you recommend for sponge ball magic and thumb tip use? I've heard about Darwins 101 Thumb Tip Tricks but still unsure. Ill take all the tips you can throw at me.

Wikiro,
Patrick Page has a nice video on the sponge ball with a routine that I use since viewing the tape. |

I've seen him perform and lecture on several occasions -- excellent! He's also one of the best teachers of magic. L&L Publishing has a number of his tapes available. Although, I haven't seen all of his tapes, the ones I've seen are great!

I'll trust you guys because it sounds like you all know what you are doing. So far, my wish list includes Jeff McBride's Worldclass manipulations, Allen Ackerman, and Patrick Page. Thanks for all the tips Bolt and Alan.

Wikiro,
Alan Ackerman will definitely help with card stuff. I was with him in Las Vegas last month and he was fantastic. |

I use to work with the sponge balls. Now I use sponge rabbits. It gives the effect more of a character for the spectators. I like Michael Ammar's the best. And I feel more comfortable using the word rabbits in front of the kids.

You can pick up lots of books on TT tricks. Just have a scout around at your magic shop and I'm sure you'll find a decent one

Are you looking for an effect with sponge balls AND a thumb tip? Roger Klause's sponge ball routine uses a thumb tip. Garrett also uses a thumb tip with his. If you do use sponge balls with the thumb tip you will find it easier if you use smaller balls. It's tough getting the bigger ones in.

The best sponge ball book is Frank Garcia's, the 10 count even blows you away while you perform it.

Have a look at Troy Hooser´s material. He has a DVD with sponge balls where he uses a TT.
He shows an interesting way to modify the TT for use with sponge balls.

Hello Wikiro:
I have heard more than one person refer to Pat Page as "England's Dai Vernon." His sponge ball and thumb tip videos are gold mines of information; I've learned so much from him. Roger Klause had an effect in one of the Michael Ammar Encore Books. It had to do with vanishing a sponge ball and making it reappear in the spectator's coat sleeve. I've never seen it done, but it sounded very good. Ron |
