I'm working on my marketing plan and fine-tuning my focus on banquet entertainment. I'm talking about things like company recognition dinners, holiday parties, installation dinners, blue and golds, etc. Your basic banquet, where the planners want to have a dinner, perhaps an award presentation, some remarks from the VIPs, and have some entertainment as well. My question is - who are the major competitors (non-magic) when it comes to entertainment for this type of venue? DJ's and bands spring to mind first for me, but I'm very interested in your thoughts on who else we are competing with for events like banquets? Thanks! -Jeff

As an old marketing professor, I want to encourage you to think is terms of solving the customers' problems rather than "out doing" the competition. One simply pays better!

Yes there will be competition. But if your solution isn't the one customers want you are not in competition! There are no run-offs in most races!

Absolutely correct. I do not worry about my competitors cause I know that most can not deliver what I give to my clients. My wife and I are total solution providers and solve the problems of our clients time and again. When we do so, our perceived value in their mind climbs very high and they come back to us again and again. We build relationships with these clients that last year after year.
