Thanks, Vets. The Stone house has your steak in the cooler, call ahead so we can light the grill. And do you prefer Bud or real beer?

You are welcome. I just got back from the vet cemetary where I went to put down some flowers and flags. For those of you who are thankful for those that served (and I know many are not) remember that the vets from WW2 are now well into their senior years, this included pretty much all the countries represented here. Be kind to them, listen to them and give 'em a moment of your time and attention. Find legitimate organizations who help these folks and if you want to give money to a group consider them, check with the VFW to see if they are legit though. Those folks, many of them, went through a Hell that many of you, thankfully, will never experience....often because of them. Even those in countries on the opposite side in the war can thank a vet from Canada, the US, Australia, The UK, and many others because after the devestation they have better lives now than they would have had should the other side had their way.

Bud Long Neck please. And thank you and your welcome.
Nothing like being forgotten while being remembered...Don't forget all the current heros that will be Veterans wihtin hours. They are coming and going daily and are proudly serving those that couldn't care less. Tonight ignore a Hollywood Star and thank a Hero.

I was not fit to serve, despite my efforts, and my near perfect ASVAB, I could not obtain a waiver. Like the rest, I can only offer my gratitude.

The humility typically shown by these guys is just astounding. You rightly call it Hell, but they just shrug their shoulders and call it "doing a job we had to do." My neighbour is a member of The Greatest Generation, and he despises that designation. It is astounding that he and people like him saved the world, and then quietly decline the honour, glory, and recognition they've so deeply earned. And continue to earn. Those red stripes on my Flag out front mean blood, a lot of which was spilled so's I don't have to speak Deutsch. Or worry about some zealot's vision of Paradise that requires them to fly a jet into a skyscraper. Doug, lemme know when you're heading back to the Park - I'm not far off the 5.
