It cannot be denied that escapism is one of the most glamorous and well-known genres of magic. People adore escapism, no matter if they like magic or not. It's dangerous. It gets your adrenaline rushing. It's extreme. Whenever you bring out a straightjacket or handcuffs, people think of Houdini, officially one of the top three most famous people in history, recognized worldwide. I would think that this lends some fascination to your act. Particularly when you bring out the whole, "I will tonight replicate Houdini's most dangerous escape" thing.

But I got sidetracked. The point is, escapism is fascinating to many people and Houdini greatly enhanced the whole concept of escapism in people's minds. I love escapism. I'd like to learn more about it. So, how would I be able to dive into this art? Do I learn how to pick locks? Do I learn how locks work? Do I learn how to tie tricky knots?

Also, what are the requirements for a great escape artist? What do you absolutely NEED to be successful?

Thanks,

N!H

I don't think he was being funny - he's a grumpy old sod! It's the jet lag!
