Well they should be for that price! Smile

So does any one have any of these 300+ ones?

Video: 23 Ways Playing Cards are Marked
Cost: $350.00

Book: 23 Ways to Mark Playing Cards
Cost: $39.95

Why is the book, which is not cheap, so much cheaper than the Video?

I figured it was Mike Joseph. A friend of mine attended one of his seminars a few months back, the topic being false shuffles. Very alarmist, and he essentially just did magic tricks.

If you've seen his crummy Beat a Cheat tape there's no reason to believe he's gotten any better since then, and for those outrageous prices? Bah.

Sometimes it's useful to set the price high in order to target fortunate customers and makes them think they'll get invaluable information... how do you call that? a scam? oops...

You guys are genius'. Now you see why I come here. I have this tape that Tommy mentions and he's absolutely right. Tommy you've saved me time from searching this mess out. $350 to $400 is what this junk cost? They're absolutely robbing the poker players but hey "you pay when you don't know."

Ed Thorp would be fascinating...he was my inspiration when I developed my own multi-level card counting system in the mid-1970's.

Russell Barnhart told me about him and the rest is history.

I took his ideas and worked on the college computer to enhance them. I still have the 30 year old computer runs in the attic as proof of my research. I started majoring in computer science, physics and chemistry. Then got my degree in computer science with a PHD in magic Smile ... and we all know that magicians like to 'Pile it Higher and Deeper" Smile

The system served me well through the 1980s and early 1990s, until the casinos started getting too smart in the very late 1990s and early 2000.

It was fun while it lasted and I was never asked to leave a casino Smile But, dealers did "shuffle-up" on me a few times Smile

I have Thorps book and some academic papers he wrote on the stock market. But, have not re-read them in many years. They were mostly based upon arbitrage BEFORE it became popular.

But, I do not recall the term "book fortunes formula" ?

MRZ,

By the way, fortunately, I made a decent amount of money during my card counting years. I used to go to Vegas 2-3 times per year AND I went to Atlantic City twice per month. In the early years Atlantic City was great when they offered Early Surrender and Surrender rules.

As the casinos got smarter, I plugged the rules changes into my computer and when the odds were almost break even...I decided it was not worth the risk. I was there to make money, not gamble. So, I need the odds in my favor.
