This obsession is getting expensive. I need some advice. I tried buying a 100 foot reel of Yigal Mesika Elastic Thread to make my own loops, its impossible. I know there is a new system out there, the Trinity(expensive:{ ). The T.I.E.S. system is no longer available. So, I am willing to buy premade loops. I found these on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Pack-of-High-Stre......ViewItem They are reasonable if you buy them in bulk. There are others out there as well that are cheaper. I do not want to buy junk, they say high strength but who knows. Does anyone know if these are junk or good stuff? If junk, what are the good ones, or are they all pretty much alike. I'd appreciate any PM's for those with good and bad experineces with loops. |

The thread isn't the best on the market, however, you will still learn how to tie loops. You can always buy better thread. |

I've had good luck with Mikasa loops, - I've also bought some other cheaper ones that were't worth a darn. I guess you get what you pay for.

I my experience, the Mesika loops are by far the best. Some of the others I've seen, especially on eBay are knock offs, and I even e-mailed with one guy who said his are slightly thicker than Mesika loops, but the same strength, and a little cheaper.
IMHO, the Mesika loops are the best balance between price and (in)visibility. I've been able to use a set of 5 for a couple of months of casual use, meaning not a huge number of performances, but at the same time, wearing them for hours at a time in social settings. If you have tons of time, you can tie your own, but one of the really nice things about Mesika's as well, is they're uniform in quality of the thread and the length. You always know whatcha got. As long as you keep in mind you're wearing one, and don't get too rough with em, they'll last a while. Wipe them down after wearing for a while to get the dirt off, and use the card with which they came, and you can make em last. I met Yigal a while back, and he was working on a loop "holder". A credit card sized thing to let you hold them without knotting or entwining them. I think he's selling it now. Since there was not one at the time, I made one from two fake Amex cards (the cardboard ones they send you when they want you to sign up) and taping them together. Then I fold the card the loops come on in half. Works pretty well. I'm sure Mesika's holder is much better made (as is all of his other stuff)...

What's the difference between a magician and a deck of cards? A deck of cards has FOUR suits... |

When tying my own loops I put a small piece of tape or put a bit of wax on the end. I then do so on the length of thread right before the spot I want to cut. I then cut the string and tie the two ends together using my fingers to seperate the thread. (I use a simple over under across knot for this) Once I have the first knot then I simply loop both ends I just knotted around my finger and push the wax ends under that section. I do this about 2x's. This is fairly quick and makes a good loop. You will have different sizes though. Good luck!

I have tried various different loops and have purchased them quite cheap ut they are not as good as Mesika Loops. They seem to have far more stretch and don't break as easily.
Daver the credit card holder you refer to is included in the new loops DVD by Finn John and Mesika. Its a great idea and a great set of DVD's. Paul |

Good stuff, you can tie your own. I think Mesika Elastic is the way to go.

Elastics is a good source but in my humble opinion Infinity v2 is as good if not better and you get 300ft in a custom far superior dispenser!
