What are the different dealing grips? I've looked everywhere on the net, but can only find mentions of them, no descriptions. Exactly how do you do each one, and which would you suggest. I've always used a mechanics grip, it just felt the most natural.

Ones I've heard of but haven't seen described are: Erdnase, Masters, Key (or Standard).

Would someone plz xplain these?

Very roughly speaking:

The Mechanics Grip. http://www.pokerproblog.net/how-to-cheat-at-poker/

Move 1 to the corner for the Master grip.

Move 2 to the corner for the Erdnase grip.

Move 4 to the back edge for the Straddle grip.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

If you have access to Wesley James' big book "Enchantments", there's a chapter in there that deals with the differences in these and other dealing grips.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I'm going to start learning to cheat. Mainly interested in dealing greeks, and centres. If I know those two, what would be the point in dealing seconds or bottoms, right?

Ok, I have to admit-before you guys jump on this guy (again), I have to fess up. After writing back and forth with ace about methods of cheating (i don't cheat, but I'm very interested in the ways, and I know a lot of the moves and the sources for them), it seemed to me that he wanted the short route. so I wrote to him to learn the center deal and buy casino protection by steve f. I told him to spend 10 buck on EATCT, but it appears as though he has not done this.

Ace, no one is going to show you all this stuff, you will have to find it. Spend some money. I don't mean to come down on you , but this isn't an easy road to follow... the center deal MIGHT be learned in years of pratice, as I mentioned.

ace, if you are "going to start learning to cheat" work on shuffle and seconds, bottoms, ect. leave the center for later, much later. again, pm me with questions.

Different grips for different deals and hands.

for instance, with my bottom, first finger gripping top side of deck, second curled underneath, third and forth grip bottom of deck, and the take is made with middle finger of right hand. but htis might not work for you.

Check out the Allan Ackerman tapes. I think its vol. 2, it goes over numerous types of deals. You can get EATCT from amazon for really cheap. You might me able to find it at a barns and nobles if you are in the US

When you read EATCT, pay attention. One particular sentence that should stand out is "The inviolable rule of the professional is uniformity of action."

This should be all you need to figure out what grip you should use. This time, think about it, wait until you get the book, read it, and think some more. You won't be spoon-fed all the answers.

If you take the time to read it, this next sentence contains some information of value to you Ace.
Spend a few days and go back through EVERY post in this forum.

The contents of the forum are priceless.

Ace my friend, you're going to either have to spend some money, or get a teacher......but you've got to at least make an effort to find the basics out on your own.
Using the forum to ask if you have to order EATCT or if it's in your local book store borders on too lazy my friend.

The adventure is in the hunt.....start looking Smile

Thx. I will. Im going to spend some money, b/c as far as a teacher goes, I don't know ANYBODY that does magic, sleights, or xcming around here. Everybody is either a sports player or likes to pretend to be people they're not on videogames.
Its kind of discouraging, really, because it is SO much easier to learn from a person than a book or dvd. But it doesn't look like that's gonna happen.
I'm not gonna let that stop me, though. Smile
