Hi there. Just wandering what material is on the dvds and if someone could give a review? I remember meeting Paul at Duncan Trillo's Mind magic day in London a few years ago and he had some great stuff. Just would like some thoughts on these?
Many thanks |

Forgot to ask does the dvd show any of Paul's Mental card effects?

Hi, the DVD set does contain the Three Phase Routine with cards I did at one of Duncan's days, but the other stuff includes keys, a coin, postcards, number cards, tarot cards, business cards and a book test. There are thirteen routines on the 2 DVD set, (though if you took that three phase routine as three seperate effects it would make it fifteen effects on the set).
Simply put, if you enjoyed me at Duncan's Mind Magic conventions you'll enjoy the DVD's. Best wishes Paul. |

Thanks Paul.
I have just placed my order for Mind Stuff and Clever card Magic. Hope to see you in the UK again soon. Keep up the great work. Lee |

Greetings Lee;
Both of Paul's double DVD sets are excellent value for the money. Paul's material is real world material that he uses, no pipe dreams or what ifs here. The contents of the 2 DVD set Mind Stuff: 50/50 Opener The Hunger Picture Perfect Future Keys Number Force Plue Three Phase Routine Total Recall Somewhere Mediumistic Book Test Hallastack The Dead Zone Battle of the Sexes & Prediction in Millions The contents of the 2 DVD set Clever Card Magic: Killer Clone Zone Ace Assistant Twist in a Glass One for Rovi "43" Al Smith's Kings & Witches V.C. Card Psychic Poker Favorite Cards Universal Card Routine & His Favorite Trick Personally I feel that Battle of the Sexes on Mind Stuff and V.C. Card on Clever Card Magic are worth the price of their respective sets alone, and you get all the other material as a bonus. Paul is an outstanding entertainer, and his material is worth far more than what he is charging for these sets. I have seen the reactions that many of these effects get when Paul lectured and performed at my Funarama convention. I give both sets a 10 out of 10, Very Highly Recommended. All the Best Marty |

Thanks for the comments Marty.
Someone e-mailed me asking for what the effects actually were on the Mind Stuff DVD's. Those that have my books will probably recognise most of the names but for those that don't this might help more. 50/50 opener is a stand up prediction of whether a spectator's tossed coin will be heads or tails but presented not as a prediction but a more interesting psychokinetic demonstration. The Hunger is another opener, a classic item revitalised as a psychological item demonstrating how 'drive' can lead us to make choices without conscious decision making, here a demonstration of the food drive as the spectator identifies food in a bag in a round about way. Picture Perfect is straight mind reading, the spectator thinks of one postcard from many, you tell him what it is. Simple but structured in such a way no-one can backtrack. Future Keys. A key routine (four instead of seven) which tests the spectators intuition, and at the same time you have predicted their actions. Also described is a follow up idea which you can use to turn it into a two phase routine. Number Force Plus. Not only do you predict the total of some random munbers, you show you predicted all the numbers that would result in that total. Three Phase Routine. Before ESP cards some early ESP tests were done with playing cards, this three phase routine builds in such a way it appears 'hands off', possible solutions eliminated along the way so that what remains must be real. The journey takes in second sight, mind reading and derma optic vision. (This and Picture Perfect were part of my act at Metro Magic 3 after which organiser Bob Solari commented, "I don't have a clue how you did any of that!" ) Total Recall. Clean mind reading with number cards, the method has other applications. Somewhere. A simple word test, not demonstrated on the DVD as well as it should have been, but it was a genuine fresh lay audience so we didn't re-shoot (to do so might have given it away). Mediumistic Book Test. A book test like the original book tests presented with tongue firmly in cheek. This appeared in my Mindful Mentalism series of books as The No **** Sherlock Book Test, though here the alternative version suggested is demonstrated. Hallastack. Mind reading demonstration with a colored ESP deck. A stack of mine for ESP cards from years back. Still an effective demonstration. The stack can be arranged with the Piatnik ESP deck or with cards from the new ESP deck from Magic Makers which are on Bicycle card stock. The Dead Zone. A bizarre happening with Tarot cards. Battle of The Sexes. This was briefly marketed some years back for more than the cost of the DVD's. Bizarre (?) impossible prediction effect involving names. Business Card Thing. Supposedly starts as a test of the spectator's intuition, but clearly shows yours. If you have business cards you can do it anytime. I am surprised there has been so little in the way of reviews, but then, sometimes no reviews is good reviews, or is that no news is good news??.. In hindsight I have regrets in releasing the mentalism stuff, especially since I am still using some of it. With the exception of "Especially Wild" and "Small But Deadly" none of my stuff has really been 'mass marketed' previously, making it a little bit more exclusive. Paul. |

Mr. Hallas,
I was the one who emailed you for descriptive info because, unfortunately, there is not much on any of the web retailers' websites who list your DVD. You should request a better desription than what they provide. I greatly appreciate you emailing ne back the descriptions shown above and I agree that there is a lot of solid material "down to earth" material here. I particularly like the # force plus and the Hallastack (which might be further refined in conjunction with Osterlind's ESP stack to get a more random selection). JS |

Thanks guys for all your help and advice.
Having now watched both sets of dvds I am more than pleased with my purchases. I agree that Battle of the sexes is worth the price of Mind Stuff, and I loved the Hunger. It was great to see Paul performing. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. |

Major point deduction for claiming to be psychic during the word test that was fouled up.

How much money am I going to have to spend to do all of the effects on these dvds? Extended ESP cards, Tarot cards, ch**** bags, impossible to find number cards, slates, alphabet cards, cards with names on them, glassware, wallets, boxes, locks, keys, picture frames?, envelopes, postcards, gaffed cards, tailor-altered clothing, etc. I'd say more than $200.

So you are actually going to perform all the effects on the DVD? That's incredible, man. You must have a gigantic repertoire.

There's a ton of excellent magic on these DVDs. Very under rated.

Lithania?? See above for cards. The DVD is clearly marked For Professional Use Only. A pro or semi pro probably has some utility props like bags and wallets. Even if you WERE going to perform everything on the 2 DVD set and you did have some expense, you'd probably recoup the outlay in one gig. A less expensive alternative IS suggested for the alphabet deck routine. Some pros pay hundreds of dollars for one effect. Quite frankly, in hindsight, I think the DVD set was far too cheap. |
