I have to say that's the first time I've ever seen an Islamic woman juggling in a burqa. I didn't even know they were allowed to juggle!

A billard ball (pool ball) is great. As seen in the video I do some with a fakini as well. A cheap good starting ball is a juggling stage ball. Some people like lacrosse balls. If you go to a toy store you can find a large rubber bounce ball to start with for a few bucks. Pet stores often have good balls too.
Weight is the thing I like. A heavier ball is useful. |

Nice website sensei but I have to admit that video was making me laugh. It all looked fine. Is this your character you sell to the public?
Thanks Bairefoot |

I humbly suggest I am also a good source to come to. I teach workshops at conventions, have students, I do this for a living at certain times of the year and am a heavy contributor to that art movement. Mostly, I am useful because I love it!
The place to start is http://www.contactjuggling.org If you want commercially produced videos I suggest the real work My friend Greg Maldonado has a nice learning series I will suggest... http://www.gregmaldonado.com/ The lovely folks at Try Out Toys has some nice resources too. http://www.tryouttoys.com/ The ministry of manipulation is considered to be among the best. http://www.ministryofmanipulation.com/ But now with You Tube you can find all the inspiration you need. I guess it was the personality I was playing with yesterday. All of these personalities are me. I only perform as myself. We all wear many masks. Some more than others.

Especially with the tag line: "who could ask for more?", I assumed it was the typical post by someone who had found a bizarre Youtube video and was sharing their find with the forum. My response was an honest - if somewhat tongue-in-cheek - reaction to a video that had me laughing out loud at my desk. I do find it interesting that you consider yourself a good teaching source and a "heavy contributor to that art movement", considering that all of the video clips you've linked to in this thread seem to be at a fairly beginner level. The commercial video series I linked above features a guy (Matt Olsen) who effortlessly handles 10 large acrylics in the same patterns that I see you handling 3 or 4. I do not mean this as a criticism of your own efforts - everyone has to start somewhere - but I do think you might consider showing a tad more respect toward a teacher and performer who is, literally, light years ahead of you. Hey TW, are you aware that you are provoking the original poster, SenseiStrange, for apparently no reason? The guy just wants to share some magic and such with the good people here at the Café. I thought SenseiStrange did a fine job and certainly not deserving of a berating.
Honestly, it comes across as odd. Just a thought, pay it no mind. |
