I've watched Eugene work for laymen on a number of occasions, and he goes over very well. Eugene Burger is an excellent entertainer.
The Eugene Burger that works for laymen however, bears little semblance to the author / lecturer Eugene Burger. |

Randy,
I just got done watching the "Garcia vs. Susskind" tape again, and you really have to feel for Frank. Susskind was just an earlier version of Letterman, ie. "I'm the show, everybody watch me!" At least that was my take on it. Cheers!

They're intended to help out those with aspirations to perform in front of the public and (now get this part) have something to say that is at least somewhat as clever and amusing as the trick. Sometimes, performing a trick for friends or doing a little little show is a person's only chance to be clever in public. Having the words and some help on the technical details can (almost assuredly) make the difference between having some fun and volunteering for humiliation. PS How long will it take you?

I'll cite one of your items, Ron, that is far more than "a professional performance script" as Tom mentioned: "Ron Bauer's Mechanical Deck."
To call it only a script, is to ignore the quality of the instruction with all the technical details, the history included, the premise included, the analysis of the "illusion," the vibrantly clear illustrations, the alternative lead-ins, and the several pages devoted to thorough teaching of "The Finley-Vernon Double Turnover." To refer to it as a script short-changes the complete content, at least according to me. It is a LOT more than that, to these old eyes. Other Bauer releases include unique and well-made props . . . again, much more than a script. That's my opinion, the only one I am equipped with. |

Randy, you rascal...
You dollop on the praise while cleverly concealing the fact that you're trying to blunt my point. Well, darn. Thanks. Now that that's out of the way. The Ron Bauer Private Studies is a series of "annotated performance scripts." The goal is to provide as much information as I can (given the space limitation of only twenty-four scripts!) to instruct the student how to "think like a conjurer" which means "playing the role of a magician." And that's the only opinion I'm equipped with... PS Occasionally, the particular presentation requires a prop or props that are unique, so we include them when we can.
