I always wanted to tryout for "Idol" because I want to perform "When You're Evil" by Voltaire for Simon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4NH3Lvtf7Q It wouldn't mean as much to the crew on "Talent." A ventriloquist won last year... if there was an INCREDIBLE magician, he/she could pull it off!

I honestly don't think ANY variety performer should try out for the show.
I was approached by one of the producers last month. Did you know there is a clause in their contract (which is entirely non-negotiable) that they can (of course) edit your performance in any way they see fit, AND that they can make a mockery of you. The only thing we are used for is FLUFF, that's it. I really doubt that any of us would ever win that show. Now, last year a vent act won, BUT it was a SINGING vent act. The show is and I'm quoting the producer "...ran a lot like American Idol." Ugh. Brett.

Brett,
When you said a "clause" in the contract it reminded of a Marx Bros movie where they were looking over a contract and keep tearing off the parts they didn't like. Than they came to the last clause,it was a sanity clause.Groucho said "Everyone knows there isn't any sanity clause" It was so funny when he did it...thanks I needed a good laugh. Later,Don |

I think there should be MORE variety acts on "Talent." We already _have_ "Idol," why do we need another "singing" show? Having said this, I should point out that I've never seen "Idol" and I've only seen a couple of sequences of "Talent." I'm just not the "reality show" kinda guy!

That's why I turned them down twice. But Kevin James and others still went on.
