It's always nice to have a critique from someone I know and trust. Lucky for me, it's my wife. When I asked her to marry me, we were alone on the aft deck of the Queen Mary and I pulled her engagement ring out of the air. She's loved magic ever since and is always ready to watch!

Skypoint,
My wife and I love traveling and we often go on cruises. I told my wife about you proposing on the deck of the QM and pulling the ring out of thin air and she said: "What a great story, you didn't do that for me." -Vinny |

Vinny, I normally don't get too many original ideas. That happened to be one of them!
BTW, great idea on recording yourself. When I started doing theater, my acting coach said taping myself while practicing lines and rehearsing would help me more than anything else. He was right... every mis-step was right in front of me! Jim |

That's true. The camera doesn't lie.
I used a minidisc recorder to learn lines when I was rehearsing Taming of the Shrew. I taped the scene we were going to block that night, and then I would listen to it when I did my daily walk. I would play down to a cue, do my lines, then check them against what I had recorded. It was a great tool for that. Now you could use an iPod.

I agree with the first post about "Practice."
When I first started out it was easy to understand how it all worked, but no way was I ready to go out and perform. I practice little each day and make the practice fun to do, and my confidence improves each day. Working with mini cups is harder than the normal size cups, and makes me be more careful about what I am doing, therefore making it easier to work with normal cups. There is another DVD on 2-cup routine that I am planning to get, so the more ideas and practice that I get the better I get. When I am at work, I practice my sleighs with coins. At home I work with crochet balls and sponge balls. One day at work I saw kids playing marbles on the floor and I asked them if I could see one of the marbles, then I performed a french drop sleigh and they were all impressed. After that one little trick I had to run away because I was not ready to perform anything else. Hopefully I made a lasting impression. I still continue to practice and get better. Today I saw Jason Latimer perform the Glass Cups and Balls on youtube and it made me realize that I have a long way to go, boy was he fantastic. Have fun. Keith |
