Hello:
I recently noticed that Practical Magic in the UK is not selling a Deluxe Version of the Silver Sceptre. A few things worth noting are the elastic is easily replaceable, and you have a choice of chrome or traditional magic wand. And, the bag is cloth. I contacted Jeremy to ask about the quality and he said he contacted his German manufacturer to have these especially for PM, and the quality is very high. I've bought other PM things made by their German manufacturer, and quality has always been very high. I'm going to purchase this, and if anyone is interested, I'll give a report as soon as I get it. In the meantime, here's the link: http://www.practical-magic.com/index.php......temid=26 Looks like it's about $40.00 plus $10.00 postage Ron |

Great minds and all that..
Add me to the list of those interested in hearing a report on the de luxe sceptre. I have the standard version and am looking to up-grade. Earlier today I read through the entries on the sceptre at the Café, and found a wealth of information. Checked four or five ads today on the internet, and the Practical offering looked the most promising. Was going to order one, but now will wait for your report. Thanks. |

The covered version of the deluxe model seems interesting.

I've gone through ten of the cheap ones in the last two years. This looks like a worthwhile investment.

I should be receiving this in a couple of days, and will give a report on it. It seems like Jeremy at Practical Magic has addressed all the short-comings of the Indian-made Silver Sceptre.

I have one Terry herbet put out last year. I must say Terry put out the rolls royce in a silver sceptre. I think I paid 100.00 and it worth every penny. If you see that Terry has any of these buy them fast!!

I received my Silver Sceptre yesterday, and here are some thoughts:
I'm very pleased with my purchase. This is the third item I've purchased from Practical Magic, and all three items are very nice. Practical Magic has a source in Germany that makes a lot of their items, and the quality is just outstanding. The German company makes their Silver Sceptre. You get your choice of buying an all-silver wand or traditional black-in-the-middle wand. I bought the black one. The black adhesive paper used is glossy and can be easily removed if you'd rather go with the all-silver model - but it's very nice...quality all the way. The ends are a brushed aluminum, rather than chrome like the India model, and I like the brushed aluminum look much better. I previously bought the Silver Sceptre that's made in India, and it's not all that bad, but this is quite a bit nicer. First, I noticed the wand is longer and thicker. I love the fact that they've made it extremely easy to replace the elastic; once you know long it should be, the elastic could be changed in about 2 minutes. It also uses the round elastic, rather than the ribbon elastic. The round elastic is very easy to find just about anywhere. The bag is black and is made of soft material. It's very light weight...not felt, but maybe some microfibre material. Again, very well done. Operation of the Sceptre is very smooth - the elastic doesn't pull as hard as in the other version I had. The cost was $46.00 to me - that includes the bag and the cost to send it to Arizona. I've been looking for a Nice Silver Sceptre for a long time. I bought one of Frank Starsinic's beautiful bags to go with my India model, but was never really happy with the wand. Now I'm very happy with this one, and want to start using it right away. Practical Magic has come through once again. Jeremy always treats me so well - he's your typical English gentleman, classy all the way. Ron |

Appreciate the review; think I'll order one myself.
Have a back-up for the India model, but when I went to replace the elastic, I was not able to find the product suggested by John Breeds and went with one having less elastic. A little less pull but seems to be holding up. Ordered a bag from Ambitious Card a few days ago. What else have you purchased from Practical? I'm interested in the Magic Wand Factory. Have read through the archives here and would love to hear more from some one who has the unit. |

I just got mine and used it over the weekend. It looks great and works like a charm! The elastic would take only a minute or two to replace. The bag is perfect. Another quality item from Practical Magic.
