It pays to read old magic magazines! This is from a 1973 Genii. I'm going to post the method in Secret Sessions for how to get the top card (so it could be a selected card controlled to the top) to any position the spectator calls for, using a simple mathematic principle that the layman should not have a clue about.

It is also in one of the Gardner books - I believe mathematical carnival.
There is a chapter on card shuffles there and the IN/OUT Faro sequences are described... There are so many magic gems in the Gardner scientific american compilation books it is unbelievable. I fooled some of the most knowledgeable magicians I know with stuff from those books (which are mostly not even on magic...) N. |
